Havent duck hunted in a few years and still pretty novice anyway. I only hunt pressured public land because its all I have. Its seems a lot of hunters on public have a mojo in their spread. I wonder if the ducks get wise to them and avoid them? I have a mojo with a timer I haven't used yet. I've noticed most guys have theirs running on constant mode. I wonder if the timer making it run just a few seconds at a time would make it look more natural and make a difference to the ducks? Or would they likely react the way they would seeing any mojo?

Leave it at home. Take a jerk rig.

Few hunters understand the point of a mojo ---------- a mojo is visible from about 2-3 times the distance of a decoy just sitting in the water. This is especially true early morning when there is not much light. THAT'S why they come to a mojo, they can see it.

Last year, my group had a slow hunt...and about a mile away they were hammering them...down near Palacios...as we drove by, they were still shooting birds...with no less than 12 mojos, all running...I just can't afford that many AA batteries...

I think sometimes it works and sometimes it flares birds. Mojo has a timer that you can set a variable schedule. There's also a remote. I use a mojo but I tend to put it where it can be seen from far away but gets partially hidden when birds get close. Jerk string is the ticket in my view. But scouting is supreme. If your not where they want to be you have to convince them your spot is better. If you are it won't matter.

No matter how high a duck flies a hammer still breaks a window.

This!

I still will only run 1. But I do run 3 pulsators. (Twerkers, as we call them! lol.) I like the mojo to get their attention from the distance, but you really need that movement to suck em down in there.

I dug out the old Lucky Duck out of the attic this year. Used it for early teal.

Ran an experiment at the lease a couple of weeks ago. Even early on birds were obviously flaring from it. Pulled it after 10 minutes. I imagine public land would be the same, but it sounds like the coastal birds still like a lot of them. Maybe a whole fleet is the key LOL.

If you can haul it in take it. Some days it will work and others it won't. A jerk rig is better if you're walking in. Let the birds tell you if they like the motion or not.

Jerk Cord > Mojo. I prefer to hunt without them, early season I will run them, as they start flaring birds I remove them.

On dry fields..... as many mojos as you can.

I deer hunt close to a popular duck hunt WMA, when the wind picks up I will hear more shots from the WMA. 1. Location,2. Hide,3. Realistic Motion - 3 most important things in duck hunting.

IMO, Mojos are played out.. by the time birds get down here to Texas they have seen it all, and probably thousands of Mojos.

In the early years Mojos were duck magnets; I remember ducks trying to land on them. (Dove too) It hasn't been like that in years. Every now and again we put them out early am but as the sun starts to come up and everything lightens up, we pull them as the spread becomes more visible.

I believe being the only person hunting a public lake "without" a Mojo is a bigger benefit than being like everyone else.

Lot of truth here.
