It’s been awhile since I visited but always a nice stay. Visiting this coming weekend would appreciate your recommendations for breakfast and dinner. Thanks

Get a dinner reservation at Otto’s. Duck schnitzel is a game changer.

Don’t forget to visit the Pie place. One block off the Main Street.

there may be some good breweries there also. Albert isn't too far away and that there can be a special place.

Been through there more times than I can count, have never stopped. Either just leaving home, or almost home. Looks like a fun place, maybe a few too many wanna be bikers.

I eat at the Jalisco in the strip center next to Hibbits sports on the east side of town.....

Fredericksburg is too dang busy for my taste. Crossroads has a good steak and did have good night life. Grape creek and fat [censored] wineries are my favorite, but those are east of town.

Johnson City has a decent resturaunt on the square and Bankersmith ( an old town located on Old No.9 highway/Old San Antonio Rd South of town ) has a newly reopened bar/grille that is the best thing going in the area.

For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.

Had a really good steak at Friedhelms several years ago. Is Crossroads just as good?

I have only eaten at Crossroads once a couple of years ago and it was not nearly as good as Friedhelms. Not even close.

WTF? You mean that place , once owned by that Austin Twin Peaks wannabe, that didn't last one year, has had life breathed into it again? You know, that original store was operated by a Nazi spy? oldrancher can confirm. He knows a lot more about it than I do. It was basically a stage stop. 'Never made it to "town" status. Luckenbach is a Metropolis, compared to Bankersmith.

By the by, 'got sick after eating at Alamo Springs...twice. Gotta clean the grill more often. Locals called Alamo Springs "Hippie Hollow".

Well...Alamo Springs has a good burger. I’ll attest to that. It’s a big one that’ll fall apart if you try to put it down. Really good and really messy. Get plenty paper napkins. It is a bit of a drive from downtown though.

Downtown there’s a German style restaurant one level below ground level. Can’t remember the name, but the food was real good. Close to the Nimitz Museum.

Our favorite wineries, due to great outside patios and good red wines (and cheese trays) are Grape Creek and Signor.
