1100 HP tractor can plow 1 acre per minute with an 80 ft chisel plow. In a 12 hour day it can plow 800 acres.
One shot is all it should take.

I chopped cotton. An acre a day was a good day.

pretty sweet - I'm sure GPS rigged so all you have to do is turn it at the end of the field.

I saw a different version of a Big Bud, a 550 or 600 if I remember right, at a Cross Plains feed store back in the 80's. I had gone there to buy wheat seed and they had the tractor on display. The Frigstead sweeps rig had something like 14 gauge wheels and IIRC was a 72 bottom plow. It was absolutely huge. Made my Case 2294 with 14' equipment look like a Tonka Toy.

I saw a John Deere tractor like that in Waco. Instead of tires it had rubber tank treads front and rear. $600,000.

To be determined

How does a farmer in todays world recoup that kind if investment? Thats insane.... Well, that field is 3,000 acres. Avg 43 bushels. Avg price $6.40. 3000x43x6.40 = $826,000/yr. gross, no telling how much more land they have. Also, that tractor is ~40yrs old, they've had a while to pay for it. If you buy a new one, you're not looking at a 60mo note-plan to be paying a while.

Big Bud doesn’t have GPS, it’s a conversation piece more than anything from what they told us. Big old horsepower without having the idiotic emissions crap they have to have today due to its age, And as far as price’s go, a half million dollar tractor is pretty standard. A big skid steer will run you $110k and a 500 horse tractor Is bumping a half million or well above. We have all of the above and everything in between and they all suck, Other than joystick controls and a few electronic goodies I’d rather have one from 1990. They won’t run more than a few days without some type of sensor or stupid gadget going nuts shutting them down so you have to have spares, yes that’s right. Spare half a million dollar tractors sitting around. Ever drove by a big farm operation and seen tractors everywhere? Now you know why lol and your paying for most of it. As far as how big farmers make a living, your tax dollars of course. The bigger they are the more you pay and their aren’t many small farmers any more

Awesome 2 Stroke Power. I have a 2 Stroke Detroit Motor in my Camper that half that size 8 Cylinder (8V92 (TA) Turbo Aftercooled) 738 cubic inches , 500 horepower and about 40,000 pounds. It's a rocket. On a good day, it gets about 4 to 5 miles per gallon.

That thing is pretty cool. I noticed they didn’t put a junky Allison behind that engine, the Twin Disc is a great transmission for that application.

Most big farms don't buy their equipment, they lease it. It's just like leasing a car except it's not $6k due at signing, it's $60k, plus the $12k service contract. Those that buy use their land as collateral and a lot of that land is in perpetual hock.

My dad bought a John Deere 3020 in 1966 and sold it at auction in the early 90s for $100 less than what he paid for it. No idea how many times it was overhauled in those years.

Tractor manufacturing has followed suit like big Tech has, buy our server and buy our service contract, new John Deere’s software doesn't allow you to self diagnose or fix. I couldn't image paying the fuel bill on big bud
