zztop is lucky to be on a jukebox. I wouldn't recommend talking that non sense in Texas. Definitely poking a hornet's nest.. I think somebody put some bath salts in his stash !

What about the Black Crows, Blackberry Smoke, or a newer band like Whiskey Myers? I know they are classified as southern rock but I have never been able to really like any of them...i think blackberry smoke and the guys from the black crows are related too

I aint never been with a woman long enough for my boots to get old, we been together so long now they both need resoled.
That flute is like the cowbell, sometimes I get a fever and the only cure is more flute. I pull that from my playlist and play it loud, sing every word. After a margarita, or 2 beers I sound great. After a margarita and 2 beers I get thrown in public.
I love all this music ya'll are talking about.
How many of yall knew Greg Allman's son had a band, Royal Southern Brotherhood. Good drinking song, "Sweet Jelly Doughnut".

Strange no one has mentioned ZZ Top. I consider Texas part of the south,at least east Texas anyway. ZZ Top probably has more hits than any band mentioned so far. ZZ Top was mentioned earlier and determined to not be southern rock. I disagree that they’re not southern rock, but they’re not better than Skynyrd, MT or Allman Brothers Band. ZZ Top is awesome, but not the best southern rock band of all time.

ZZ Top is blues rock, well they were until they added synthesizers I would agree with that. ZZ Top is a Texas band but they have too much blues influence to be southern rock. BTW, I love ZZ Top but "Rough Boy" was a terrible song

I would not lable ZZ Top as a blues rock band. All rock bands have ballads, for ZZ is was blues. Most of their songs with blues licks switched to rock.
