Put the 14 yo Britt on the ground yesterday morning for the first time in a couple years. We knew there was a covey in the area. She found it, and I shot a bird for her. Way to go Dixie and 68rustbucket for getting her out there. The dogs love what they do and like us still like to do it even if without as much energy as we get older.

I have a 14 yo Britt named Dixie, too. Unfortunately she can't hunt any more other than the backyard chi chi birds in the bushes.

I took my almost 16 year old out last year on a pen raised bird hunt but it was kinda hot and she didn't want anything to do with it. Now she pretty much completely deaf, has diabetes and i think some doggy dementia. @ night ago my wife let her out to go pee and took her eye off of her for just a minute and she dissapeared, we started frantically searching, after alnost 15 minutes I shine my light around and my wife notices her leg in the culvert, she was in it and stuck. Other than being covered in mud and needing a bath, she was fine.With the diabetes, she is constantly looking for something to drink even after she just had a drink, guess thats why she was in the culvert, she found the motherload. Great seeing old dogs getting it done, I love senior bird dogs.
Haven't had it in years but never spit any out. I am a sucker for happy endings and strapped cowboys.
