My recipe is similar. Only difference is that I pour all of my oil into a pan and heat it in the oven before adding the batter. Makes for a crispier crust.

Not a fan. They say it's good if you put it in the bowl and pour the stew / chili / whatever over it.
My tastes lean toward the savory.

Same here. I heavily grease the pan with bacon grease, then put it in the oven and get it hot. Perfect crust every time.

l like any and all cornbread. Never had cornbread I didnt like.
Haven't had it in years but never spit any out. I am a sucker for happy endings and strapped cowboys.
