I don’t care to much for tri tip. I enjoy eating it, just don’t get all the hype about it. I try to cook it again every now and then to see if the problem is me. Problem still may be me. It was good, but not great. I’ve been on a bourbon smoked seasoning kick lately. Seasons was awesome.

Looks great tho. I actually have a big package thawing out right now, for later in the week. I find that aging and marinating makes it much better than fresh out of the wrapper.

That looks really good. Tri-Tip done right is pretty tasty.
If you ever get to Flagstaff, The Lumberyard Restaurant and Brewery has a salad called the Tri-Cobb Salad. Imagine a Cobb Salad with Tri-Tip chunks instead of grilled chicken. It is amazing.

I think it's not real well known, as it's more a California thing originally. Our long time friends from Ventura always swore it was the best cut you could get for the price, when taken care of. Definitely not one to overcook, or it gets tough.

Looks great! I've still never tried it. It's worth the effort.

Looks good. I don't think I've ever grilled Tri-tips before. I think I've only had them roasted.

This was a bunch of Tri-Tip pieces I got the other day. Will build something yummy tonight with them, now that I have them cleaned up.

If you have an HEB around, go in there and ask for a Pecanha "roast". Cooked like a Tri Tip it's in another league.

I know in some areas, I believe out west, Tri Tip is all the rage. What makes it so much different or better than the rounds or other major muscle groups of the hind leg?

Just a muscle group that doesn't get a lot of hard use, and can be real tender, if cut correctly. Different butchers cut them larger or smaller, depending on how they square up the bottom sirloin. I like it when I find them smaller, and more of the tip, which is the way our local Kroeger does it.
