Just bought a new CZ 550 chambered in 28 Nosler. Anyone have any advice on ammunition before I pay Chad to load me a 100 rounds ? In normal times I would go buy a box of several different loads and see what the gun liked but we know these arent normal times. It will be used for medium to large game such as Elk, Nilgai, Mule Deer . Im a big Barnes fan but know people that love the Hornady E Tip. Thanks

My guess is your not going to find ammo nor components and probably will be best to go to Chad and get 200 rounds may even do the load development just to save the hassle of fining the stuff..

I got in 6200+ pieces of Nosler 28 Nosler brass recently, and I will be opening up ordering for the 28 Nosler on my website soon. I have the components to make ammo, just need more labor to load it up. Right now I'm about 3-4 weeks out on a lot of my custom stuff and slowly catching up.

Chad, I am mainly looking for info that others may have with a 28 and maybe a few different rounds to try before I give you all my money. LOL Id love to have 3-5 rounds of several different loads to get a idea of what it likes best.

A rifle likes a charge for a bullet, not just a bullet. There's plenty of ammo that the rifle could have shot that bullet well, but the powder charge was wrong. Whatever your twist rate is also helps determine the best bullet length.

I shoot a 28N. Love it. My favorite hunting gun. The 2 bullets I have used are Berger 180gr HT and the other is the Berger 195 EOL. Both are devastating on Elk and mule deer (my elk this year was at 485 yards). People seem to either love the Bergers or hate them. People also suggest using the Accubonds for large animals. I have read that you need something more like a 338 LM for Nilgai due to their size and thick tough hide.

I shot a Nilgai at 360 yards with the 175gr ELDX in the 28 Nosler and it did just fine. This was back when the 28 Nosler was new and there wasn’t even factory ammo available yet.
