I have been on the hunt for Buffleheads for the last few years hunting off the gulf coast, I can bring in everything else but no luck on the butterballs.
I’m hunting points in the bay, using a larger spread with 3-6 buffleheads 20 or so yards away towards me.

I’m mainly hunting Corpus Christi bay and Baffin Bay.
Are they down here in the numbers I’m told or am I just bad luck?

Appreciate any insight on their behavior or hunting tips on our gulf coast.

I’ve killed a couple north of you on goose island side of Aransas and San Jose. I find closer to brackish better my luck on them Is, but I feel brackish is best way to get away from a straight red head shoot anyway

Killed plenty of buffies on Baffin back in the day. I think it was more of a luck thing, then decoy placement.

Killed one a couple of seasons ago near Port Aransas, middle of bay, open water blind.
