If your wife is just wanting to keep her white wine cold and not take up room the the refrigerator, just get another refrigerator. We got 3 in our house.

Anyone know if Zephyr is any good? I saw a 24 inch wide full size dual zone for a decent price.

Anyone know if Zephyr is any good? I saw a 24 inch wide full size dual zone for a decent price. Those really have nothing to do with wine, they are just refrigerators. Designed to keep cold beverage cold, yeah they got a wine rack, but that would just be for white wine, you would not put red wine in there for aging as I discussed in my previous posts. Sounds like your wife just wants a "white wine refrigerator". Red wines would not go in this. These are not wine cellars.

They are dual climate with temp range from 40-65. What temp do you store red wine at?

I only use wine for cooking. I developed a distaste for the stuff in high school. MD2020 and Boones Farm will do that. I knew a dude that built a concrete lined gun safe and then his house around it. It was almost the size of a small bedrokm.

Take off that glass door, replace it with metal and cover it with a throw rug - instant sex slave room. Maybe your wife will tie you up in there.

They are dual climate with temp range from 40-65. What temp do you store red wine at? I would set it on 65 for cellaring/aging reds, white wine I would make it real cold. I do not drink much white wine, but when I do, I like it real cold like beer. The problem with those "wine coolers/refrigerators" for cellaring is that they are normally too small. When you think about what size cellar you need, you back into it. Say you want to be able to drink 1 bottle a month that is has been aged 10 years. So this means you buy 1 case (12 bottles), put it in the cellar to drink in 2031. Next year you buy another case for 2032, etc... By 2031, you would gave 10 (year old wine) x 12 (1 bottle a month) = 120 bottles. Say you want to drink 1 bottle a week (4 bottles a month, or 4 cases a year, 48 bottles a year) that is 10 years old, that is 48 x 10 = 480 bottles In reality, it would not work exactly like that, you would start dipping into that first case before 10 years to test it as discussed previously, but you get the idea how it works.

I see I see. Yeah, my compromise is the 138 bottle cooler. Maybe in our next house she can have a full fledged wine cellar.

Just to inject a littler more reality into this, lets say you do the math above, and you decide you want a cellar that holds 500 bottles. Are you really going to buy 4 cases year 1, another 4 cases year 2, etc....? Ideally not. Ideally, you make that initial investment and fill your cellar with 500 bottles day 1, and you start drinking them. All the wines are drinkable day 1, they just get better over time. You drink a case, then buy another case, you keep the cellar stocked. Hopefully, at the end of 10 years, many of those 500 bottles you originally bought are still in your cellar, hopefully a lot more than 4 case.
