like others, I paid in for over 40 yrs. to the forced ponzi scheme they call social security, will never live long enough to collect it all so this is a partial refund.

Used part of ours to pay off balance on a credit card. Rest in savings. Having a few kiddos helps to increase that $600/ea a bit.

I hear of people getting their checks and best to them! I see them living in 195K townhouses and driving nice cars and good they are doing well, but how they make the bling they are spending and still qualify for the stimulus? I'm single and with new job I started just over one year ago ( it was 30% pay cut) I didn't qualify for jack crap. Now granted I don't want or need it but still makes me scratch my head. My father was telling me I should qualify for some of it since there is sliding scale...look on his face when I told him my income exceeded combined household limit was priceless.

Look at some of the vehicles in the food bank lines. I wish the payments could be targeted towards people in need but that would be tough to do. Part of the problem is they are based on 2019 tax returns. That is actually good for me because it was the last year to claim daughter. I believe you can reapply when you file your 2020 return if you then fall under the income limit.

Used our check to pay the plumbers to clear out a massive sewage backup problem. Better use than the government...who just keep increasing the nasty problem in DC instead of aggressively using some hardware to remove the slime.

Got mine last year and looks like I am one that the fastest way to get it is to file that I did not get it this year when I pay the taxes. IRS screwed up a lot of peoples payments, so much so they are putting it in this years taxes if you did not get it or just use it to pay taxes if you didn't get it.

I have heard alot of folks doing things like pay down some debt where it would help...great idea, still the stimulus isn't enough to get many back above water where times have hit their rent or utility bills. I feel for those folk .I am blessed or lucky in my situation where I don't need/want it, but if I did receive it it would go in bank for rainy day fund. Running down to best buy or buying the latest greatest camo or shoes leans towards the foolish, The covid has hit folks in so many ways, by threatening jobs, or shutting down work and even if some people can work if they have children the schools shutting down and alerting hours it has been hard to still work when there is daycare and homeschooling to cover. Hope the best when the tide starts to turn but $600 or even $1200 is not going to make 12 months of bad go away.

I'm curious, what is the income limit? I'm sure being single and exceeding the limit on your own you must be well aware of the fact that financially you are doing very well for yourself and are not anywhere near the average joe no?

If I remember correctly the income limit is something like $75K/individual $150K/couple...

As far as I am concerned the stimulus checks, overall, are a bad idea. They lower my tax burden now but the govt keeps spending and keeps printing $$$. As a result dollars are worth less and less as time goes by. History tells us this is not good. It would be better if the govt were more frugal and accountable overall and less generous re foreign aid. But that is not going to happen.
