I will be converting my '98 Jeep Wrangler to my hunting rig. I will be flat towing from home to hunting spots primarily in south Texas and the Hill Country so I'll need protection from mesquite thorns and jagged rock as well enough grip to get through sand and mud.
I am hoping the collective experience of THF members can offer their opinions on the best tire brand/models for this type of use.
Thanks in advance.

A friend of mine runs 12ply on his Jeeps...I will have to ask him for brand and other info though.

By some cheap 16 inch rims and you'll get a better tire. Put these on them - DEESTONE MODEL D503 SIZE 7.5-16 LOAD RANGE E (10 PLY) ALL SEASON RUN FLAT TREAD DEPTH 17/32
Tough as nails bias ply tires. Sidewall is the key here. I have been running them for years. I have had some slow leaks, but have never, ever had to change a tire. I will and do drive over brush three feet high & higher that consists of pear, white brush, black brush and whatever else is in front of me. Did put goop in them this year and wish I had done it years ago.
This is not the prettiest unit. If you want to "profile" and are used to relying on a Creedmore, you might want to go get some radials that are outside the wheel wells and which you will have trouble with sooner if not later. if you want consistent off road "production" from a tire, buy the Deestones.
Yes, they also make 7.00 X 15's.

Bias ply are good for longevity in the sun. I would advise against flat towing, get a 16’ trailer with at least 5000lb tandem axles and 16” tires.

Flat towing a Jeep is fine, mine saw many miles that way. Flat towing on bias ply, or even driving bias ply tires on the road after its sat a day is not fun, and the colder it is outside the longer it takes for the flat spots to disappear.
If sidewall strength is what you’re looking for, I’ve always had great luck with BFG MT’s and AT’s. Super Swamper TSL radials were good to me, they’ve seen rocks for days at 10psi and never punctured a tire.

I run BFG MTs on mine and have been pretty happy with the results overall; Central Texas so *some* mesquite but not like down south. Run them on steel wheels and they're the higher ply version.
