Well Today is my wife's Birthday and she was able to make it happen on the last hunt of the 2020-2021 Season. Got to the ranch Saturday at noon and hunted that evening, she saw a really good buck that evening, he never presented a shot. Thought maybe he may come back in Sunday Morning but he was a no show, the buck she shot actually came in and she missed. Having not shot a buck in a couple of years, I'm sure she had the shakes. Well, we got back to the house about noon and talked about whether we would pack up or stick around and hunt yesterday evening, we choose to hunt and see if he or another might show back up. I was sitting in the ranger from a distance watching for any deer that may be approaching from behind her stand, texted and told her that a couple of bucks should be showing up soon. Neither were the deer she had shot. About that time I see three does pass right by her stand and then the SHOT echoed. I figured she had taken a doe and would have been happy for her but, she texted and said " he was down". I was ecstatic and unsure exactly which buck she shot, but she advised it was the buck from the missed opportunity from that morning. Nice weekend after the mud somewhat dried and I couldn't be happier for her on her birthday. Happy Birthday Babe!! Great old 13 pt, including the broke tine. She earned it, 2nd buck we took off the place we bought this year. Soooo happy for her!!! it did put it us back home at 1:00 this morning though, had to have a couple of drinks and relish the moment before getting him ready to go in the cooler. I'm thinking he was 6.5+ but will have the jaw saved so we can estimate his age.
