I finally got around to purchasing a new Citori CX. When initially putting it together, should I be doing any greasing of the hinge pin or any other surface prepping of that nature? I hear of people recommending to add grease, remove grease, or other things like that. Just wanting to do what's best so that this gun lasts a lifetime. Thanks.

I would put it together and see how tight the action is. I had a brand new Winchester 101 that was tighter than Dick's hatband. I spent several hours one evening putting Flitz on the hinge pin and opening and closing it until it finally loosened up.
Silver spurs and gold tequila

Yes. Get the cosmoline off. Oil the extractors and the sides of the block they are mounted in. Grease the hinge pin and the knuckle beneath the bottom barrel that the forearm snaps onto. Also grease either the front curved portion of the receiver or the rear metal in the forearm that slides on it each time the action is opened and closed. Oil the springs, rods and cams in each side of the forearm. When you disassemble, wipe the old dirty grease out of the hinge pin and mating surface between receiver and forearm as well as the knuckle the forearm latch snaps onto. When you reassemble dob a little new grease back on. That simple bit of maintenance will keep your citori action tight and on face. Operating it dry or with grit in the action will remove metal and possibly gald the surfaces resulting in the need of a rebuild well before it’s time. Good luck with your citori. It is built to last two lifetimes.

Axle grease on the hinge pin is what I use. I put it in a small bottle and also use it to lube the threads on choke tubes. DOB it on with my finger. Thompson center makes a squeeze tube for their break action guns that is easy to use. Mobil one is what I oil with. It’s what I run in my pick up. I pour the dregs into a small bottle for oiling my guns. Any quality gun oil will be fine. The main thing is don’t get lazy and use dirty or dry.

Grease it up and break it in. Never assemble without grease could cause the caming surfaces to gauld damaging the mating surfaces.

This is the secret sauce for the 3 gun competitors on their AR15s too. I run my Beretta duck hunting guns wet with this combination too.
