I’ll dumb it down for you

I paid $92 for a 200 round count of Winchester fmj’s 556

These dooshbags want $250 for it

They rush the isle as soon as the doors open and get it

So if you’re a regular working stiff like most of us, good luck getting to Academy at 9am on the regular

Let’s say I offered you a 200 round box of Winchester fmj’s for $250

Let us hear your spill...

Hard PASS, I don't need any, stocked up when prices were rock bottom....my money is still in my pocket.

The education part...be prepared to walk away if you don't like the price. It's called CAPITALISM...like someone said above.

I bill out $125 per hour and typically bill 8 to 11 hours of labor per workday. If I can pay someone less than $125 per hour to stand in line at Academy for something that I dearly need but do not have the time to get then I'll gladly do so.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I must have overlooked the part about the price gougers coming to your house, holding a gun to your head, and forcing you to buy ammunition from them. You typically pay about an 8 x mark up for fireworks but I've never once complained about the price of firecrackers and you should see what smokers pay for a pack of cigarettes in New York City.

If you really want to talk about price gouging you should look at bit coin, or Tesla stock. Bitcoin was $6,000 in March, now it's $32,000. Tesla stock has gone up 12 fold in the past year and I don't recall a single soul complaining about it.

Right now the producer is not reaping the benefits of increased demand. The improved investment economics for the producers of the powder, primers, ammo...are not as good as they should be because they have not raised the price. Opportunistic people are buying more than they need and then scalping it to everyone else and reaping the benefits. I would rather pay Hodgen more for powder and give them the money to reinvest than an internet troll who managed to score 10-8lb containers of Varget and is now selling it at $600 a container.

It'd not gouging, it's called Capitalism.

Some larger companies like Walmart or Academy sell a lot of different products to cover expenses. If you are in the gun business, you don't have that luxury.

I'm not in the gun business but I have a basic understanding of capitalism.

I believe the focus is on those who have no overhead and who play no role whatsoever in the supply chain.

The use of "gouging" is correct, although not completely the same as the definition that the government uses for during a crisis.

Essential items being...food, water, fuel, shelter? I don't think ammo and guns fits into the essential items category.

Correct The laws on gouging during a crisis spells out essential items. Essential is the governments description of items during a hurricane, flood, etc.
The definition of gouging is the overpricing of anything, whether it be ammo, arms, Cabbage Patch Kids or Beanie Babies.

It's only gouging if someone is dumb enough to buy it.

Correct...no one is "forcing" anyone to buy non-essential items. An "asking price" is just that.

Gouging or not I see online prices just as bad or worse than I see locally. Look at ammoseek or any of them. Not saying it’s right but demand is high and supply is low. I don’t wait to stock up anymore. Learned the hard way years ago. To many new gun owners now. Not really much more than the market value at this point. New guns come up. Can’t get them. See them “new in box” from joe blow marked up. It’s really simple. People stop buying it the market goes back down but until then this will be around for at minimum another few weeks.

The issue is that speculators are setting prices - middle men. Not the people making the ammo or the people using the ammo. That's gouging in my opinion. But you know what they say about opinions...

Perfect example of "supply vs. demand" but you can't tell the whining sock cuckers that!

If you're comparing the stock market to the gun market and claiming any sort of similarity, then you either don't understand the problem, or you're part of it.

I have better things to do then sit outside of a store waiting for it to open. I also can not be part of a problem when there is not a problem. Back when Stalin ran the Soviet Union he frequently blamed his failures on hoarders, profiteers (gougers), and speculators. Modern Democrats also attack people for having a profit motive.

The stock market is speculation and so is buying ammo in hope of flipping it for a profit. The gougers are only one half of the so called problem; the other half are the people willing to buy products from them. You can not have one without the other.

It is kind of funny that when people speculate on houses in the hope of making a profit when the sell them a short time after buying them they make TV shows about them and lots of people think that it is a grand idea and many try their hand at the same thing.

If you think profit is bad you should see what the world looks like with out it.
