Had 5 or 6 doe eating corn by the pond, and here came a small 8 point. All he did was run the does away from the corn and eat his fill.

For the most part, but there probably are a few that didn't get pregnant the first time around. And always a chance some of this years fawns will cycle in. But unless you have MLD's or hunt south Texas, season is almost done for anyway.

My rut generally can last until March, however, not very strong. One might say only one doe fawn left to cycle. One way to tell is to see a fresh rub. When I see a fresh rub you will notice a few bucks holding on to their horns. When the last doe cycles is when you will have the last few bucks loose their horns. This is what I have found on my place and may be different for you. This years doe fawns that do cycle may not necessarily produce a fawn, in fact the conversion factor to successfully have a fawn is probably around 0.15 or lower. This doesn't mean that an adult doe might can't cycle late. Cycling late may be due to their body drawn down due malnutrition for a number of reasons. So, to put it in my words, the "Rut" for me will last from mid September to early March. Just my opinion and what things I see in the pasture. I have seen fawns drop from April to October. This would relate to the rut from mid September to early Match. This time of year it is not unusual to see bucks chasing does. The strong rut or so called"peak of the rut" is defined what you see and experience on your place. I have counted deer every year for years. My counts start during the early fawning to late fawning(when the last fawn is collected on my cameras). This takes a lot of time and effort (and cost). I post each fawn separately with the corresponding pictures. Working with cameras has turned into great projects and I certainly would recommend it to all who enjoy the outdoors.
