Do you think we will get sports betting in 2021?

Push For Texas Casinos in 2021 Could Lead To Sports Betting
Quote
One name gives Texas sports betting and casino gaming a chance: Sheldon Adelson.

The Las Vegas casino magnate and top Republican Party donor will reportedly ramp up his lobbying efforts to legalize casino gaming in Texas when the legislative session starts in January.

A lobbyist for Adelson’s most famous property, the Las Vegas Sands, told a conference in Texas in December that the state is indeed a priority for Adelson’s company, which is reportedly looking to unload its Las Vegas casinos.

“We view Texas as a worldwide destination and one of the top potential markets in the entire world,” the lobbyist, Andy Abboud said, according to the Texas Tribune. “Texas is considered the biggest plum still waiting to be out there in the history of hospitality and gaming.”

Casino gaming and sports betting would help Texas create jobs and generate tax revenue amid the coronavirus pandemic.

You left out New Mexico. Arkansas is the only state that touches Texas that doesn't have casino gambling. I have to drive to Tennessee just to buy lottery tickets.

I don't see it happening under Abbott. I'm on the fence about the whole deal.

I'd like to see it happen and either the Baker or Crazy Water turned into a Casino.

Wouldn't mind it a bit. Maybe they can generate enough tax revenue to fix the damn county roads in 3/4 of the counties in this state....unlikely though...probably build a bunch of billion dollar high school football stadiums instead.

Louisiana didn't want it to happen in Oklahoma but it did. Winstar now claims to be the largest casino in the world. I'm sure they've taken their share from the Louisiana casinos.

Love to see something happen to the Baker.

They might as well, were 30 minutes from one in Oklahoma and I’m astonished at how much money flows into that place from Texas. It’s pretty much in the middle of nowhere and every time I drive by it’s packed with Texas plates. We go their to eat on occasion and it’s obvious that it’s mostly funded by Texas money, their are a few Oklahoma plates but I’d say at least 85-90% are always from Texas. What’s the difference in a casino verses lottery tickets, gamblers are going to gamble. I’ve often wondered by Texas never allowed them when we’re completely surrounded by states that do.

Texas Government has got to be the dumbest bunch of SOB's in the world. Look at the amount of Texans that fly to LV. Look at the amount of Texans that go to gamble in Ok. Look at the amount of Texans that gamble in La. including myself. Giving our tax dollars to those other states. Stupid. Do they all have their heads up their a**es? I realize there are folks on here that do not approve of gambling. But why cut off your nose to spite your face?

Texans own about half of the town of Ruidoso in vacation homes. Drive by the casinos and Texas license plates are on a lot of those cars, We know people in El Paso that drive up for the day just to gamble.

Hobbs is the same, it is an easy drive for millions of Texans for the gambling. It is so close that the Texans haven't bought vacation property there. clap

Oklahoma Casinos are like Oklahoma beer, not the same as Vegas. I think Adelson has something bigger in mind.

Liquor sales on Sunday before you will see gambling and I'm not holding my breath for either.

I’ve said for years there’s only 1 reason it ain’t legal here

Crooked Azz politicians are getting kickbacks to keep it illegal.

Has to be!

I’ll bet all those casinos line the pockets of our elected officials.

Drain the swamp, vote Abbott out!

Who is "we"? Any relation to "they"? Speak for yourself.
