The result is the same and when you think about it, the two are far from being mutually exclusive.

Anybody that isn't engaged in a full on open assault that is after deer is pretty much sniping. If you are shooting from any sort of hidden or clandestine position, you are sniping. If you are shooting from a distance where the deer doesn't know you are present, you are sniping. If you have scouted your area, looked for sign, and determined the best place to set up to get your kill, you are sniping. Just because maybe you do a little walking or stalking doesn't really change anything. Snipers go on the move all the time in order to make their shots. A bit part of learning their fieldcraft in the military is how to move without being seen.

Just for the record, properly trained snipers engage is a variety of activities to get their kills including spot and stalk, shooting from cover and concealment. "Sniping" isn't significantly different than "hunting" except with hunting, you more often actually eat your target. I have met several combat snipers at various gun schools. None of them ate their targets when engaged professionally.

Let's face it, you are probably sniping your deer unless you are running them down on foot and stabbing with a knife or killing them with your bare hands. Remember, sniping occurs from contact distance to the max range of your firearm. It does not have to be any sort of particularly long shot.

Does it matter if you hunt over a feeder? Not really. Plenty of hunters will hunt grain fields, water hole, trails, or any place they expect the deer to actually show up or concentrated in a given area. That is good field craft to be where your target is going to be and for the target to not know you are there, right?

I don't think think anyone will ever convince me that hunting a grain field is somehow superior hunting as opposed to hunting a feeder. The grain field is simply a baited located that is non portable, LOL. After all, that is sort of the whole premise of food plots.

I prefer to glass, spot and stalk and that is what I do on public land while looking for bucks. But I have no problem shooting a doe or two for meat from a box blind. Won't shoot a buck from a blind (that's just me though) but taking meat is another thing.

Here’s a novel concept, if you don’t like the way Texans hunt deer...then don’t hunt them. Free advice, showing up to a new place and telling everyone how inept they are won’t make you fit in any better but it’ll instead make you look like a bigger dooche wink

I like to say I bring deer in very close so I can "stick" them with an arrow on my little 20 acres. On the big ranch I'll "snipe" them because we are not allowed to spot and stalk but i still like to get them in close. Any man who says they won't take full advantage of the opportunity to "snipe" a buck from a 16 ft tower stand may need to reexamine what he is saying. Just say no to "sniping" a big guy and I'll step in for you.

Sometimes it's hard being me! But somebody has to do it.

Sniping i.e. Baiting deer
Hunting....Go out in the woods, walk and find one yourself.

Following this immense lack of logic,, fishermen that use bait & lures aren't actually fishing.
And those that use boats & various modern 'fish finding' electronics are even worse.

Fishing.... go out in the water, wade or swim around and find one for yourself.

You guys are falling victim to this troll. If he posts anything else related to sniping, I would advise everyone to ignore him and not take the bait. Then he won't post anymore of this sniping BS.

Hunting is becoming a lost art, deer leases come and go, landowners just want your money, hunters or snipers just want to get away and say they are hunters, they feed the camo machine, not trying to be negative here, but it’s the truth, on the positive side spending time with family is great and a lease is a solid place to do it, but be ready it’s going away, it will only go up in price on smaller acre properties

I prefer the term "ambush" vs sniping when hunting over a corn feeder.

Once one gains the real concept of the First Amendment, one would never make such a statement. wink

The 1st Amendment prohibits Congress from passing laws inhibiting free speech, and prevents govt from persecuting citizens for speaking their mind in a peaceful way about govt.

Last I checked, this site was privately owned, and doesn't fall under "1st Amendment" restrictions.

The owners make the rules. Just like I make the rules in my house.

This guy probably thinks sitting over a harvested corn field or winter alfalfa field is different than hunting a corn feeder.
I have hunted whitetail deer in 9 states and every person I know that hunts them sits over some form of feed.
