Hey guys. I am searching for a Turkey lease for myself, my wife, and my 10 year old daughter. I’ve been Turkey hunting for 20 years. We live in East Tx near Athens, but willing to travel anywhere for gobblers. We just recently lost our place in Coleman county due to it selling. Also interested in day hunts/package deals. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

Spring turkey is and has always been a my favorite hunting. Unfortunately my ranch does not hold turkeys, too far from the river according to my game biologist. We see a nesting hen of two each spring and that's about it.

I went looking for a spring turkey hunting lease a five six years back. Had zero luck as leases are for all year. I lucked into one of our local telephone guys on a job whose family owns 450 acres near Archer City. It's about a 30 min drive for us. He told me the guys on the deer lease don't hunt turkeys and gave me their number. I gave them a call, we worked out a deal for 7 days during the spring for $600.00 total for two people. My buddy and I thought what the heck $300 each. We've been hunting there each spring since. There is a one problem we're finally beginning to figure out yet. They have so many turkeys, we've seen 24 gobblers in two trees next to each other as the sun comes up. Great we thought, we'll be out of here early this morning! That was until they flew down and were met with a bunch of hens and went the other way. Very hard to call them away from the real McCoy! We've found the last week in April first of May is the best. Most hens are on the nest. If we hunt earlier than that any success is being where their going.

Instead of looking for a place all spring, you might want to try to find someone willing to lease it to you for a couple few weeks.

Sounds like you landed a heck of a property! I am up for anything I can get my hands on that’s affordable. I know my best bet is to sublease the turkey season out from a group of guys kind of like what you and your buddy have done. If you hear of any openings anywhere please keep me in mind.
