After decades of being limited to a garage only, except for a few common hand tools, all tools are in the equipment barn. I don't have to move three things to get to what I need.

Mine are all in the shop with the exception of a few small hand tools in a drawer located in the laundry room. I have 3 roll around tool boxes and 2 stand alone socket/wrench sets. I also have 1 stationary work table with 2 roll around ones and the bigger tool box has a work area and vice on it. Everything goes to the shop if possible because that is where the air compressor and impacts are along with the cutting rig and welding machine along with all of my woodworking tools. Somehow I manage to fit a 19 foot boat and a tractor and finish mower in there too.

Hand and small power tools in the garage. Mowers, saws, generators, and larger power tools in the shed.

Also, being the largest investments by far, both vehicles are parked in the garage.

Creekrunner: the reason some live in the garage. I have a loving (and understanding) wife, and mounts in every room of the house. It’s getting too crowded, and a new house would cut into hunting!!!

Very nice Sir.

Your pictures of animals, tools/cars, and food are pretty cool and pretty much explains who you are.

Not bad, for a yankee.

grin

I kid. I hope you enjoy your retirement. Keep having fun!

I build lots of toys for totally different uses.
Some of these toys require specialized tools and most of the time I end up making those tools.
In order to make those tools, I have what might be considered excessive or exotic tools to get the job done.

After tools, comes specialized locations.....which requires a certain amount of tool crossover...like screwdrivers....two draws full in big upright chest in shop....one draw full on the pit mule...dozen in pneumatics shop....twenty in house.....and a few different ones on the leatherman....and quite a few of those have been modified, bent, welded, machined, etc. for a specific purpose.

Our home was built in 1979 as a "weekender" so it had no laundry setup, no dishwasher, etc. Building a garage is on the list!!

All of my hand tools and smaller power tools live in my walkout basement.
Large woodworking tools are stored at work - 15 minutes away.
Yard equipment in the shed plus a basic toolkit for simple repairs.
I keep another cheap set out in the boathouse because I'm lazy.

I miss having a big garage!

I found out the challenges of living in Coastal Texas on tools, when I lived in Bay City and we used the boat a lot at Matagorda. Left a pair of needle-nose pliers in there, and three days later they were rusted shut and useless. Thank goodness for stainless steel! Humid salt air is murder on stuff.

Too dang many tools and tool boxes and STUFF.

Garage has a roll around box and another big box on a counter top.

Back yard Morgan storage building for hand loading, knife making and welding. Lots of power tools.

Then head to my place South of Bowie with my white trash trailer house. Shipping container for 4 wheelers, lumber and shelves for power tools and stuff, large roll around tool box, and another welder. And then there is the construction office trailer with all kind of stuff for messing with tractors.

Oh yeah, can't forget the pickup bed box full of tools.

Built a 3 bay tractor shade for big 220 volt air compressor, John Deere, another tool box and STUFF.

You will find most of my tools spread out in my shop/garage where I last used them.... or where my kids last played with them.

I was always outside tinkering with my dads tools as a kid. I never listened after how many lectures and whoopins about putting them away lol. My kids do better than I did. I clean the garage up and put everything that i can find where it is suppose to go 2 times a year when we throw my kids birthday parties.... shop is a mess this year as their birthdays fell during the heat of the rona and we didnt have the big parties we normally do.
