I saw a buck yesterday that I have seen before about a couple weeks ago. I noticed him step strangely so I put the bino’s on his and thought maybe he injured himself. Every time he would walk he would pick his back legs up like he was trying to avoid stepping in something like high stepping.... so I watched him for a bit.. he ate appeared alert and such.. something scared him and when he ran his back end seemed stumbly or off, not in sync with his front legs. I found a video of a doe that was filmed walking and it looked identical but the doe was walking strange with all four. This is in Medina county and we have had a case north of 90 which is about 20 miles away or so. Not sure what to do further. The little buck is about 3 at the oldest and is not skinny.

Maybe more likely EHD. It makes deer lame like you describe.

I knew about these two illnesses for the deer but couldn’t find anything about making the deer walk in a strange pattern when reading about EHD, CWD yes and the video is uncanny... this is the video I found and the deer I watched only did this with its hind legs. Can ehd make deer walk like this?

Reading a little more the CWD deer get very emaciated prior to dying. this one appears normal and not bone skinny and was eating. Might get some video if it comes around again.

I know for a fact EHD will make the animal walk with bad limp. If they survive EHD they can have very sore and tender feet. They sometimes even loose their hoof as new ones grow in. The animals run a high fever with EHD. This is why you will sometimes find them dead in water as they are trying yo cool off. This is possibly the issue.
