Anyone have one? Thinking it might be a good caliber for hogs and deer. My shots are 100 yards or less.

It wouldn’t really be my first choice of caliber but most stores I have been to have bare ammo shelves but a few boxes of 450 are sitting there.

I was thinking of picking up a Ruger ranch rifle or maybe just an upper for my AR.

I’ve had one for 3-4 years

I take it a couple times a year and haven’t got to shoot anything with it

But yes, on paper it’s a big hole

It's a great hog and deer round for closer ranges like you mentioned. Really puts the smack-down on hogs.

I've had one for a couple of years. I just put a scope on it last week and am currently sitting in the stand with it. Ill post pics if I kill something.

Upper for your AR might be the easiest. Just set that up with a scope and swap it onto your lower whenever you want to use it (or vice versa).

I built a 458 SOCOM about 12 years ago as a 'dedicated' hog gun and have killed hundreds with it. Like you most of my shot opportunities are 100 yds and in.

When hunting over baited sites....I like to let several get 'lined up' (if they will) before sending that heavy, big bore bullet.

You could go with a 350 legend for deer and hog.
