I play the wind. I hunt between food and bedding. I call. I sit silent. I use a tree stand and the ground. I scout and follow tracks. I hunt Undisturbed land 5+ miles from the nearest trail. I’ve spent over $2,000 and 500 hours the last 2 hunting seasons and I haven’t seen 1 single deer. I hardly even see squirrels most days. In Ohio I would tag out early every year and I’m an experienced hunter for almost 5 years now and I’ve never seen a Texas deer. Not even just driving down the road. Does anyone have any tips for me? I have a day and a half left to hunt and then I’m done with my second season seeing not a single deer or even hogs. After this season I can honestly say I don’t think I will ever hunt Texas again unless I go out west

Do you have cameras out? Are there deer out where you are? How do you know? Maybe you are "over calling"? Can you see a long distance or is there a lot of cover? If you are quiet and never see a deer, that is a problem.

I bow hunt public land. I find deer dropping and tracks Litteraly everywhere and I try and set myself up where they will be walking through. There are new tracks every day so I assume their moving a lot at night. Some stands I can see far but most I’m surrounded by cover and a trail or a field on the other aide. I hunt the edges but I don’t like hunting the bigger fields because the wind is constantly changing directions. As of right now I’m right on the Texas Louisiana border in newton county

First of all welcome to texas and the forum.

Can you tell me the part of the State your hunting?
Are you using deer feeders and if so are you feeding CORN year around?
Are you using trail cameras to help with scouting?
Have you been seeing signs of deer - travel trials / droppings / rubbs / scrapes?
Have you been scouting during the off season?

Might be time to hang it up if you haven't seen a single deer in two seasons

Public hunting can be tough, but not two seasons long without a single sighting

Are you hunting downtown Dallas? Actually, you can see deer in the tributaries around downtown.

You have to be doing something exceptionally wrong. Texas is loaded with deer.

It appears you are hunting where your success will be very low. Its hard to hunt in Texas and not see deer. If you do not want to change places to hunt then listen to what you hear on here and maybe it will improve but I would consider hunting elsewhere and it may not have to be a very far move.

I noticed you didn't mention baiting or feeding the deer. You may not believe in it because it may have been against the law in the state you came from, but I would definitely spread out a couple of bags of corn or some other attractants. If you only have a day and a half to hunt it may be too late as it may take them a little time to find it, but if you could get there the evening before and put the corn out, they will surprise you as to how fast they find it. If nothing else you may get a hog out of the deal, too!! Even the first morning you can hunt, put the corn on the ground in all directions and you may be surprised.

Try a different location. Texas is hardly a monolith.

If he's hunting public land this may not be legal. Check the regs for whatever parcel you're hunting.

Two seasons without a deer sighting your doing something so wrong it’s scary. I’m not hating on you but unless your hunting with your eyes closed I think I’d changed tactics drastically long before now. Obviously your hunting the wrong area or an area that gets hammered on public land and they have you pattered long before you do them and 100% nocturnal.
I certainly wouldn’t give up on Texas, just change locations because their are tons of deer to be had. I saw no less than 30 deer on a 50 mile trip this morning in fields in NE Texas this morning and we don’t have near the numbers as most of the state.

Good Luck and welcome to the forum flag

It is 3:33 PM as I write this. I can get in my truck and drive to Bandera. I will probably have to dodge at least 20 deer in the 15 minutes it takes to get to the Court house. You need to hunt someplace different.

Come to Lakeway. You could kill one with a claw hammer.

It’s really hard for me to have sympathy.

Spend the $ to;
get on a good lease
set up decent stand, feeder & pen
do a little brushwork

If you can do that, & fog a mirror, you can get deer

I know we had low deer sighting during bow season and the first part of gun season in Harrison County which is about 150 miles north of you. The deer were not hitting corn due to all the acorns on the ground, the lack of rain kept them from spoiling so they had plenty to eat for a couple of months. In the last 4 weeks the feeder traffic is back to normal. If you have access to oaks and hunt next year, look before season and find the ones heavy with acorns and hunt around them. Welcome to the forum and good luck, East Texas can be hard to hunt.

I would have thought there’d be a ton of deer in the area just north of Newton after driving through those areas to go back east several times. The areas around Sam Rayborns south end look very remote and look like they’d be full of deer?
