I have a lot of friends in the oil field. But I remember when diesel was $4.00/gallon. I would venture to guess that a lot more people are affected negatively by high oil prices than by low oil prices.....wasn’t one of the benefits of being energy independent low fuel prices?

Your write offs where higher back then yes...

Best thing about $4 diesel was I bought a brand new Superduty for $22,000 off sticker without having to haggle the price.

when it cost you $150 to fill it up, sure there were not alot of buyers

I hated having to swipe my credit card pump till it shut off at the max limit and then put the pump back re-swipe and fill it again. I also hated. 120-130 dollar fillups.

Im not in the oil business and i have no lost love for the oil business. I do feel for the folks who loose their livelihood when oil drops.

Supply was way down, demand was way up back then with a booming economy. Pretty simple.

Do you have oil wells, royalties or derive income off Oil & Gas?

I helped my high school buddy on his family ranch when we were in high school. They had sheep and goats. When we ran sheep towards an opening in a fence, one of us would run ahead and hold a fence post or tree branch in the opening. EVERY sheep would jump over the obstacle even when we pulled it out of the way. Sheepeole!

Most of the talking heads on CNBC and Bloomberg seem to think oil priced $55-$70 bbl would be what's best for the US economy(whatever "best" means).

I understand both sides of this issue. I also appreciate those that can see the bigger picture more than they will ever know.

They may be right, in this case, but could you explain why you’re listening to those libtards?

I trade stocks as a side hustle so it behooves me to look at those channels occasionally.

It's the price point that makes almost all shale formations profitable, to drill and frac, while being low enough to not be a major drag on the economy. I read an article on it on Oilprice.com awhile back. The article I read said $60 to $65 so they just narrowed it a bit.

Lord knows im not in the oil biz or probably even very knowlegable about it. I watched a presentation on it a year ago by someone who knew a boat load about it. According to him, break evens for the permian was in the $20-30 range and EF a little higher in the $40 range if memory serves and off shore a little higher yet. That is from memory from a long time ago.

My stance, im happy to permanently stabilize oil at an OK price for producers and consumers, but if the producers want to get their $100+ dollar a barrel bonuses in then as a consumer with no production I damn sure want my $0.99 a gallon gas days too.

It was the easiest buying experience ever. Walked the lot with the internet sales lady, pointed at a truck I liked and asked her what price she could do. Sticker was $54,000, she looked through her papers and said “I can $32,000 today.”

Sold. And even more surprising is she gave me the higher end of KBB value on my trade in which left me financing about $16,000.

Traded that F-250 in 4 years later with a bum transmission and North Central Ford gave me $30,000 trade in. Again, super happy.
