Did a little hunting this weekend at a buddy's place and was able to fill the freezer pretty quickly. Had this nice Tom come cruising through the brush that I was able to put a nice shot on. I wasn't necessarily turkey hunting but couldn't pass this guy up. After awhile I start packing my things up to go get my bird since it was getting close to dark. As I'm stepping out of the stand I spot about a dozen pigs come rolling up to the feeder. I scrambled to get back into box and get rifle loaded again just as they get to the feeder. I've been needing some eating size ones so I picked out the smallest one and I was able to drop it right under the feeder. After the first shot they bolted but I was able to get another one before they all hit the brush (those suckers are quick once the shooting starts). I haven't worked a bolt gun that quick in awhile!
Needless to say it was an exciting hunt and now I've got plenty of pork chops and some nice turkey to smoke.
We feed ours to the coyotes and buzzards. Most of time they don't even mess with them even when we open them up. I emptied the clip on my 22 mag once. I like to gut shoot them with the 22 and let them run off. The 22 does not seem to bother the deer. I have have had does stand and watch as the pig runs off and then hit the feeder.
