this would be best, if you contacted the neighbor, then his dogs came up missing, that might lead to issues

Currently dealing with same issue. Dogs ruined 2 turkey hunts. Spoke to the owner who said he lets them out to hunt. He wasn't very friendly or understanding. Called the game warden who threatened him with multiple fines. He said he would put up a pen. Months later and now he just lets them out at night. Called the game warden again. Been a week, so we shall see. I should have just gone the 3S route.

We are planning on trapping coyotes after deer season to help to improve the fawn crop

Good lord why would you post this on a public forum. If you have a problem fix it.

Info above is correct. And I support the approach following it.

Hate to see so many folks so willing to kill the dogs without first trying to resolve in other ways.

And YES, I have dog problems as well, but mostly from Hog Doggers.

I am sympathetic as well to the plights of those who have had disrupted hunts.....but too many 'shoot on sight' and 'SSS' supporters I think. Livestock being harassed or injured is whole 'nother matter. I've killed my share of dogs for that violation.

I have dogs that come to my property. Not pleased about it, but it'd be hard for me to shoot one considering how friendly they are - and how much of a dog lover I am.

That said... if there was evidence they killed a fawn... I might be less careful when I hunt at night for coyotes. Now when I see a canine, I pay real close attention to make sure it's not the neighbor's dog. May not be as careful if one of the dogs takes a fawn...

"Texas specifically recognizes your right to protect your livestock, fowl, or domestic animal against such an attack. The Texas Health and Safety Code says, “A dog or a coyote that is attacking, is about to attack, or has recently attacked livestock, domestic animals, or fowls, may be killed by any person witnessing the attack, or the attacked animal’s owner, or a person acting on behalf of the owner, if the owner or person has knowledge of the attack.” But it doesn't say anything about wildlife. Unless the property owner charges hunters to hunt on his land then I say he has every right to protect his "investment".

That’s not true at all & you know it

There’s numersous situations where it’s perfectly legal to shoot wild or stray dogs

Keep your dogs on your own property & there won’t be a problem

The minute those dogs leave your property & act aggressive towards people, livestock or wildlife the ROE change

I find it hilarious that some people think it’s illegal to shoot dogs under any circumstance

The OP knows for a fact they are not wild dogs. He knows the owner and the owner has met him. Yes it is very illegal to shoot them under these circumstances. If he is in a rural country without any laws or ordinances saying the owner has to confine them then there is nothing he can do legally except catch them and take them to the county dog shelter.
I didn’t read where they were threatening anything but his hunting. Which does not fall under your ROE.
I don’t agree with someone letting their dogs run around on others property but you are wrongfully putting out information that if is listened to can get the OP in a deep pile of carp.

What surprised me was how much ground these dogs are covering, Couple of miles if not three from home.

I'm guessing male 'dongs'?

It blows my mind that this keeps coming up. There’s only one solution, and it should have been done before taking it public.

I am posting this because I know what some people would do about this situation and I will not condemn them for taking care of this the way they see fit I have always liked dogs and have lost dogs and it was hard especially when I was a kid my dogs were getting into a neighbors high fence and he shoots canines on site and I don’t blame him because he has a lot of money tied up in exotics and whitetail deer I chained my dogs I’m 4 hrs away from this property and I don’t want to see my camp vandalized with tracking collars this day and time the situation could get ugly I will keep using diplomacy and will do what I have to until this situation is is taken care of without harming his dogs
This could help some hunters who put a lot of hard work and money into hunting property just to see their hunt ruined by some irresponsible dog owners
Maybe some dog owners will read this and see what some will do if they let their dogs stray
Happy hunting merry Christmas and be safe
Thanks for all replies I appreciate them all

I heard an ol rancher was going to sell his hill country property to a developer and turn it into a much larger brush country property. He had some steep ridge cedar hillsides which oftentimes can carry a population of the endangered Golden Cheek Warblers and when asked if he thought that was going to be a problem. He replied, "We don't have any. Shoot 'em every time we see them." In reality, I don't think he could even ID one, but it does display a certain mindset..

True enough, but I hope they do.

The Bible does say that animals (like man) are also living souls (at least).

Ecclesiastes 3:19
For the fate of the sons of men and the fate of beasts is the same. As one dies so dies the other; indeed, they all have the same breath and there is no advantage for man over beast, for all is vanity.

Genesis 7:15
So they went into the ark to Noah, by twos of all flesh in which was the breath of life.
