As you said she probably went in there to escape the Yotes. I bet the cold water had effected her thought process and she would have probably died in there from hypothermia if you would not have approached her which stimulated her instincts to evade predators. Great pictures

I have seen them wade out and feed on vegetation growing in and under the water surface. Not sure what this one was doing... Adios, Gary

Great pics...but she is probably fighting off a fever due to injury or wound IMO.

I've seen hot does get in the water to escape a rutting buck.

Cool photos! Deer are very resilient creatures. I have photographed deer swimming between islands in Kerr Reservoir during duck season in Oklahoma. Temps in the 20's to 30's. I'll have to see if I can dig one up to post. Found one:
