My Uncle traded a pre 64 Winchester model 70 in 30 06 for a Remington 740 ( maybe 742 ) in the same caliber. Time has proven this a very bad trade.

back in the mid 80's , I sold several pieces at the gun show to fund the first home computer I bought. That computer is in a ground fill somewhere,
but I sure wish I had held on to the Ruger # 3 22 hornet and the other pieces I sold that day.

Well, I sold my AMT Longslide for peanuts, sold my SPAS 12 for about 1/4 of what they go for now, and sold my Valmet 76 for about half what they're going for now. Then there's my .338 Lapua that shoots 2.5" groups ... another great buy.

Bought an HK-94 in 1987 from Don's Guns in Indianapolis, IN for $580 and sold it in 1988 for what I paid for it. Headed across the pond to serve Uncle Sam thinking I could get one when I came back in 1993. How wrong I was...the "assault weapons ban" was in full force. Sux to be me...

Well, there was one mid-60's Colt Python in 6" that I didn't like the balance on, so traded for a S&W Mod 19 and $50.............

In college, I traded a S&W 686 for a TZ75. I just had to have a 9mm and couldn't afford another pistol.

Had a mint 6” Python. Sold it for $650 (that was good at the time). But I sold it to buy a Glock 20 10mm. I don’t regret buying the Glock but do regret selling the Python to do it.

Only gun I regret selling was a slicked you Ruger stainless Blackhawk in .357 mag. Had a hammer and trigger kit and shot like a dream.

Sold it to a buddies dad for $250 to get some working capital for a business venture ( too young to know what a pyramid scheme was at the time). Hated to sell it but I hated the situation I was in much worse and was desperate to find a way out.

Would love to have that gun back but I can’t bring myself to ask him to sell it back to me.

For it is not the quarry that we truly seek, but the adventure.

I haven't made a really bad firearms deal. I sold my Rock River AR years ago after not shooting it for a long time. I think I got $750 for it not long after Trump was elected. Bought a Ruger a couple years later (after realizing that every man should own at least one AR-15) for $500 and still have it, so all is not lost. But the Rock River was a nicer gun in every way, and I wish I still had it. Other than that, I don't really have any horror stories.

I traded a Browning Hi Power 9mm and a $350 AR for a mint 1980s Beretta Silver Pigeon 20 gauge. I missed about 400 birds with it this dove season. ImTheReasonDovesDieOfOldAge.

Also, my first shotgun was a Wingmaster 20 gauge that my dad traded 2 Superman comic books for in the late '60s.

The NIB HK94 I bought (and sold) in 1986 for $450. frown

HK was nice enough to send me promotional stuff after I had registered the warranty card with them for like 15 years just to remind me how stupid I was.

Have made a lot of bad deals with guns. Should have bought a bigger gun safe. Maybe 4 or 5 of them.

Was broke in the early 90's living in Las Cruces, NM, in a trailer park. Tranny went out on my primary vehicle, haw to pawn a Sako 30-06 (lh), a Remington 1187 (lh), Winchester Model 70 - 30-06, Savage 99E in 243 and a couple of pistols to get the $. Finally went back to "de-pawn" them and the @#@$%^ pawn shop told me that they had a break in and my stuff was stolen.....filed a police report, that was a lol. Sigh, miss that 11-87 and the Sako, I had worked hard to pay for those guns then.. But thing are good now.
