Alright, looking for a little help. We have been feeding protein spring and summer for last few years. Corn year round on a couple slingers. This summer with little rain fall, and cattle grazing we had little browse left by Aug.
Looking to try and supplemental feed through my slingers as well. Not protein pellets as we have had on and off luck with that like everyone else. Looking to throw some type of corn mix.
Something with peanut, sunflower, maybe soybean? You guys help me out. What are you feeding in the off season or what have you fed in the past from your slingers that has worked well. Heavy deer density in my area had the deer looking a little skinny in Oct./Nov. Looking for something to help keep some weight on through the dry cen tex summers.

I’d definitely put up some cotton seed feeders, I’ve tried soy bean through spinners and it didn’t work but your success may be better than mine.

Corn and peanut mix....works great. Just do not get a mix with more than 18% peanuts.

You could try the wildlife mix they have down at Behrend's in Luckenbach. I spun it out of my feeder for years when I had a place there. It never swole up and clogged.

Depending on the size opening of the feeder funnel or downspout it will tend to clog or not flow very well when you get higher than 18%. Just read the label to see the protein %. Fat level is very good and high for putting weight on deer...just have to feed enough to help.
