High fence, low fence, no fence, it really doesn't matter as long as you're hunting!

Now that's just stupid! Do they have signs with arrows so the animals know where to cross?
Sometimes it's hard being me! But somebody has to do it.

We have a few and they work surprisingly well. They only put them in areas with lots of vehicle collisions and where migration corridors cross major roads.

You could put 20 of them on highway six between Houston and Waco and I bet the ones close to the bigger cities wouldn't get it. It was 11:30 am and a buck chased a doe into 290 traffic about a mile north of Buccees. I'm glad I saw it coming and eased off the road because the dodge dually, rammed them! A few other cars got in on the action and it was a mess.

I first read about these a week or so ago where there was discussion and pics of animals crossing on one somewhere in CO, UT or MT. Never read about one in Texas.
I don't see an animal saying "Well, crap, I have to walk another mile to cross the highway over there..." but it is an interesting idea as to whether it simply becomes a trail and maybe, just maybe, they actually put 2 + 2 together?
I do believe it is a VERY expensive experiment with an overall, minimal success rate.

Think they would mind if I put a blind on one side of it? I could direct everything on how to cross it Running with a hole in it across it or a casual stroll.

Do you know how many 200" bucks they could release in the wild to improve the gene pool for that amount of money. 2,300 at $10,000 per buck, or 10 in every county in Texas.
Cabin rental in Pagosa Springs, Co. Sleeps 10, If interested please PM me.

That experiment would last about as long as this one though once the bullets start flying

They have one of those in Banff, Canada but the highway is high-fenced on both sides for many miles on either side of it. Makes a little more sense.

Makes sense to me, deer and animals search out safe funnels to travel. Not sure if it justifies the cost though.

I can understand it in areas where animals migrate. Texas WTs don't migrate. For $23 million, you could build 484 miles of HF at $9/ft. That's enough to HF both sides of I10 from San Antonio to Ozona and have some left over.

I'm afraid Texas has been infiltrated by ignoramus ways of thinking. Damn skippy And more of em are selling their overpriced little homes out west, moving here every day, buying a 3X larger and nicer home here, and still having a pile of cash in the bank. Then they try and impose their twisted BS ideas upon us. I guess so they can screw TX up just as bad and do it all over again in a few years.
High fence, low fence, no fence, it really doesn't matter as long as you're hunting!

I saw a few of them 20 years ago in Nevada when we were on the way to Hoover dam for the tour. At first I thought they were the dumbest thing I ever saw. Then I saw animals actually using them. It's definitely a build it and they will come type of situation; no different than animals walking a cleared fence line or a powerline right of way.
Thanks, Rich
