I think I mentioned some time back that I had bought a dehumidifier from Honeywell. It died in about 100 days. I contacted them and they asked for info - serial #, model #, and pictures. I sent that. A few weeks later and nothing from them. Called them again and they asked for that same info again, saying they never got what I sent. I resent to the person I was speaking with while he was on the phone. He received it. Then a couple of weeks and nothing from them. I called. They wanted a picture of my having cut the cord off the unit. I sent that some weeks ago. And heard nothing. Called them again just now. She said the picture of the cut cord was never received. My BP spiked. I sent it to her as we spoke. She said she got it, and I made her look at the picture so she can’t say she hadn’t seen it. She said they’d review it and ask for approval to send a new dehumidifier to me. I said to forget the new dehumidifier, but do send the money. Absolutely, positively, I told her that I never ever in this life time (while sober anyway) would I be stupid enough to buy anything made or sold by Honeywell.

God, give me strength!

Is this enough for a Go Fund Me thing? Probably not, but you could send me booze...I need it.

roflmao You sound like me talking to Suddenlink cable for the 341st time. I can’t even get those idiots on the phone to turn mine off so maybe we should put those companies in touch with each other hammer

In the fire alarm world, Honeywell makes everything. Control panels, most devices as well as wire.
15 years ago their tech support was second to none. I was on a first name basis with all those guys and there was hardly any wait time.
Now you are lucky if you can talk to someone within 45 minutes.
Not sure about their other stuff but the fire alarm products have gotten REAL cheap in the last few years.
(And not cost wise)

Honeywell bought our company in December 2014, they gutted it and kicked everyone to the curb. All they wanted was the intellectual property not the people. Myself and 25 others got the boot August 2019. I'm close to retirement and could have held my breath for 2 more years but I'm glad it's over.

HONEYWELL SUCKS!

I did just get an emailed letter to sign and email back to them. Very formal legalese letter offering my $229 back. I really don’t know if the $229 is correct. It’s close enough. I would buy some crudely made Russian dehumidifier before I’ll dance with Honeywell again.

Angus, you are right. Honeywell sucks.

And then....and then...I called Bose tech service to ask them a very simple speaker impedance question. The woman was not in America. Some musical singsong language version of English. I have NO idea what she said, though it did sound musical and pleasant.

My head hurts.

When you tell someone you will never spend money with them again, why would you expect them to send some back?

I have a "smart" thermostat from Honeywell. Installer replaced it twice at the beginning to try to get the message to go off. Some odd guy from Honeywell even called and asked if they could try a "beta" fix over the internet. It has good wifi signal, but has now been "waiting for update" for about 4 years now. grin It works. Whatever.

Here is another example of customer service from a US bell weather company, "SINGER" the one that makes sewing machines. My wife purchased a high dollar Singer machine March of 2020, a plastic part broke so we took it to a large sewing center in Longview, their techs would not even look at it because parts are not available, after getting on the internet, she found out the tech is right. This is not an old model but one of the highest rated machines Singer makes. Wife finally reached an actual Singer Warranty center and they could not believe parts were not available. She spent most of the day boxing the machine up and got it mailed the next day. Needless to say every time the wife spoke about the problem, warranty representative had an answer that said machine had been misused. LIKE HAS BEEN SAID ABOUT HONEYWELL, AS LONG AS I AM ALIVE THERE WILL NOT BE ANOTHER NEW SINGER IN THIS HOUSE. The wife is hopeful of getting it fixed but I am not so inclined.

I worked for Honeywell Process Solutions for 27 years. We did control systems for the Refining, Chem and Petro Chem plants.

It got to where I could no longer stand to work for the company, not the same company I went to work for in 1990. I took early retirement almost 3 years back.

I like my pension, but Honeywell pretty much sucks. As far as consumer goods, if it breaks, just throw it away and buy something else. They are not staffed to support anything, its their business model. They know how to make money like no others. Customer satisfaction does not exist anywhere in the company and has not for many years.

They have Technology thats off the chart in every busniess unit they have and they are probably 40 billion company by now. They also have a business model to make money hand over fist and it does not include making a customer happy.

Thanks, Billy

Back in the 80’s we had a big house in Houston, and we had a problem with high humidity in the house. I bought a big ugly brown dehumidifier from Sears. That thing ran for something like 30 years. When we moved to the country, I gave it away. 30 years it ran, but the Honeywell ran for about 100 days. The humidity sensor died. I’m a DIY guy, so I’d replace it if a replacement part existed, but it doesn’t. You have to get a whole new unit. Is that crazy or what?

So I’ll have my $ back soon, and I’ll want a dehumidifier. The need has not gone away. Research suggests that I can get another cheap one from various suppliers for $200 to $400 or a bit more, or I can spend a thousand or more and get a commercial unit. If there’s a middle ground type unit, I can’t find it. I’ll keep looking.

What I am going to do is, once I have the money back, take the tractor bucket and mash and pound that Honeywell dehumidifier into a pile of scrap and send a picture to the customer service manager at Honeywell. If I think about it, I’ll show ya’ll the picture too.

Honeywell buys Approx. 80 companies per year. There sooo big they can't get out of their own way.

Tell them you cut the cord like they instructed you to do but they didnt tell you to unplug it first. Now you have nerve damage from the electrocution you suffered and your house burned down as well. All you want for your pain and troubles is a full refund. I bet you hear back from them right away.

Honeywell has informed me that the check is in the mail.
