I've been looking at Japanese Mini Trucks for hunting. Curious if anyone has this type of vehicle and what your thought or opinions are.

My cousin had several. He upgraded as his ideas and needs changed, winding up with a jacked up 4wd one with an extended cab and serious mud tires. It was pretty good in the mud, and where he hunts, the mud is world class. Not sure what he’s using nowadays.

He always claimed the AM radio only picked up Japanese stations.

They are pretty cool "trucks". A little bumpy but pretty stout. Going down a steep hill or hitting the brakes really hard will make you pucker with an empty bed.

I have a friend with one and he thinks they are great. Liked it because it is not much larger than a SxS, but he could drive it to town on the highway when he needed. Said it might run 60 mph, but anything over 50 was a bit uncomfortable. Pretty versatile, inexpensive, and tough.

advantage of an enclosed cab is a plus.
I think our mud would swallow one pretty fast though.

I like the idea, but all the ones i have been in/around were neglected and didnt run well. I feel like in good running order they would be functional for a ranch buggy, but we dont have any terrain etc. that dang near any 4x4 or AWD vehicle couldnt handle. 99% of the time we drive everywhere in 2wd.

Owned one for 6-7 years.
Get an extended cab. Single cab is extremely cramped. Heater is nice, but they’re hot in the summer. Good gas mileage. Not all that easy to work on. Look for rust when searching. Many of these are used in the rice fields before being sold over seas. Get 4x4. 2wd will get stuck in wet grass. If mileage doesn’t match age, know it’s probably been rolled over. Personally, I’d look for an older 1/2 ton pickup.

Had one, will never own another, rough as heck, no interior room, hardly. Just not made for off road or rough road. I was tickled to death when I finally got rid of mine.
