Well - I tried last year but never paid attention. This year I put one in front of each camera I have out. The one by the feeder was no good due to the cows moving the pumpkins and the camera. The short answer is no. Deer - No. Coyote - Yes. Cows - Yes. The pigs did everything to avoid the pumpkin. I had broken it up and put corn in it and around it. Sorry for the multiple coyote clips.

I tried leaving one out near the feeder. Deer, hogs, and raccoons haven't touched it.

If you had a valuable crop of them, and didn't want hogs to eat and destroy them, the hogs would ravage them overnight. wink

I have taken the leftover decorative october pumpkins to the hunting lease to dispose of at least half a dozen seasons. Nothing ever touches them. Not even the coons. It has always surprised me. I usually end up using them as reactionary targets the week after deer season.

Guy gave me a bunch of old sweet potatoes, he swore hogs loved them.

Hogs won't touch them , nor green tomatoes.

They won't eat pumpkins in the trap either.

I did have hogs go crazy over carrots one time.

It had rained heavy on all the farms in the area. and delayed the carrot crop. When they did harvest them, they were too big for the commercial buyers.

Friend told me they were giving away all you wanted. So I went and picked up a pickup load, and put them out at the regular feeding area.

Hogs absolutely loved them. Deer ate them well too.

If you have a chance for farm reject carrots, go for it! smile

I used to know an old cowboy who fed his horses grocery produce stale vegetables thrown out by the stores. His horses always looked amazing.

I put some pumpkins out by a pig barrel last year. Hogs were wearing the barrel out but would not touch the pumpkins. I had a camera over it, they would walk all around them but would not eat them. Surprised me to find something a pig would not eat.

I tried the pumpkin thing and nothing touched them at all. They finally rotted to the ground.

Funny, I thought for sure hogs would eat pumpkins. Took a couple out for the traps a few weeks ago, broke them open, and sat back ready to eradicate. Nope, pumpkins still sitting there rotting.
