Shot this Boar at about 225 yards with a 7 Mag. Unless I plan to eat them I try to bust the front shoulders. I squeezed off a shot and he dropped in his tracks, did a couple of flops and that was it. From the stand I could see a good size hole in the top of his neck. My first thought was I made a bad shot and hit him high. I was really kicking myself for the shot placement until I put him on the ATV. I noticed the shoulders were broke so I knew the shot had to be lower than what it appeared. I looked and found the entrance pretty much right where I wanted it. Turns out the top of both shoulders exploded out the top of the neck. I actually have little chunks of meat all over my feeder. LOL. I have killed well over a thousand pigs over the years but never encountered this!

My dad shot a doe in the exact same spot opening weekend. Fed Fusion, 95gr .243. I went to load her, and one of her eyeballs looked similar to that.

Man that's a long way to the feeder.

Yup. It’s a tripod on the side of a mountain. The large shadow you see being cast over the valley is from the top of the mountain. As soon as that shadow starts to cover the feeder it’s usually show time.

You must be significantly younger than me. I can't see crap at 225 yards no more. And I'd kill myself climbing that high...
