Is pistol case trimming as necessary as with rifle cases?

They do not tend to grow like rifle cases but I do trim just to make them all uniform if needed to start, helps in getting the crimp more consistent

I have trimmed 44 mag once to get it all uniform. Several loadings later its still good. 9MM never. 357 Mag I trimmed about 10% of the 500 or so cases I have.
to get uniform.
.30 carbine in a pistol seems to grow and needs to be trimmed accurately every other firing and then thrown out after about 3-4 trimmings. It headspaces on the case mouth. Yes I know a 9mm headspaces on the case mouth too but it does not seem to grow. I am shooting 10MM now and have not had to trim them yet.

Interesting phenomena, .45 acp actually shrinks during the first few firings. Its been documented by the Army marksmanship team. They used to shoot once fired brass exclusively in their .45s at matches.
