It certainly does. Can't tell from the pic but is there a set there? If not, maybe something drug it in or someone playing a joke on you? Seems @ least a couple months early.

I had a buck lose both sides before Thanksgiving last year. When I saw him in person it was obvious he had been in a fight and had several puncture wounds to his face and neck. Infection had caused him to drop early but he bounced back 100% this year. We now call him Scarface.

It's a matching set, and a pretty nice one too for the area. Decent mass.

Looking at a second camera, here he is, looking healthy enough [Linked Image]

Most likely from a buck that's experiencing massive stress, either from wounds or infection or both. A few years ago someone at our lease took a hurried shot at a buck at last light, turned out to be a pretty poor shot placement that left the buck with big abscesses on both sides of his chest. About a week later we found both his sheds right below a feeder, same as you. He *also* lived to see another season, although the next year he lost tine length and added a lot of junk around the bases. The following year he regained tine length and added mass, and even more junk around the bases. He got shot that year as a 5.5 year old and was still carrying big scars from that shot.

pretty early and can sure be indicative of the health of the deer, I find a pile of fresh sheds every year in January on wheat fields, of course some of the THF biologists always insist they are old ones.
