Been watching this one for a while now. Got to see him get all “growed up”. A good buddy hunted him hard and ended up getting the drop on him. Yesterday was a good day, a very good day. 11 scorable points, 25 inch inside spread and measured 174 & some change at Muy Grande in Freer. Please see notes below on other, heavier bucks taken this year. This one dressed 150. He was never the biggest, but for whatever reason and for the last couple of years, other bigger bucks always gave him a lot of room. On a side note – we looked hard, but we never found a shed. Nice cap that fella’s is wearing. On Dec 6, 2020, 2:17:03 PM, Hud wrote: This guy is extremely deceiving. Tall, long and rangy – he’s older than he looks on photo. He just does not carry weight like so many of the others. This a typically a shared characteristic with our better trophies. Already this year, we have two mgt bucks dressed at 180 and 194 respectively. Note from someone I trust - He looked 5.5 in the first year of 2017...grey face but I have seen 3.5 yr olds down in La Salle County that had the grey face. He is really setting down on his hooves the last 2 yrs which is a sign of post mature to me. The brow tines are like a finger print to me and he appears to have the same shape, curve and location on the beam each year. He has a distinct throat patch/double patch so if he has it all those years then he is easily identifiable. He appears to be a 105"-108" on his down frame and have around 70" of tines on low end and 76" on high end. Higher score he should net over 170. Left side strong hurts him for symmetry on the B&C score but for the "pretty score" he appears to be balanced. Classic South Texas look also. On Sept 22, 2020, 05:42:47 AM, Hud wrote: My buddy and I hunt the far western end of the ranch. He has all that low brush country on the north end of it and I hunt the southern half. I think we’ve been watching him for a couple of years now. Started out pretty and just getting better & better. I cannot guarantee the photos from 17 and 18 are him, but it sure looks like it to me. Where else would he have some from? Thats an absolutely awesome buck. Thanks for all the details/story. What do yall think he scored the year before? My eyes arent good enough to read the cap. So who killed it?
Keep your gratitude higher than your expectations. RWH

Butch Klappenbach, wearing a Germania cap, was the diligent hunter who pursued this quarry with a focused determination ultimately succeeding in bringing him home.

Congrats to this hunter for sure on a fantastic buck
High fence, low fence, no fence, it really doesn't matter as long as you're hunting!

Just this beast. Only thing pretty about him was his burly. I thought he might hurt somebody. ![[Linked Image]](https://texashuntingforum.com/forum/pics/userpics/2020/12/full-66255-269722-one_eyed_beast.jpg)
