My daughter has to have the worst luck hunting. My son has shot 3 gobblers and all 3 hunts probably lasted 10 mins total. We put in a lot of miles before she finally got her first turkey this past spring.

She shot a doe 2 years ago and my son shot a buck. Last year was her turn for a buck and it just never happened.

Then my son shot a buck the last day of the season.

So she was up again this year.

She travels from Snyder to Lubbock 3 days/week for gymnastics and is extremelt hard on herself and critical of herself always thinking she can do better. Its a good attitude to have, but she can take it to the extreme and we certainly dont push her.

Well.last year and this year she has not missed a single hunt when at the deer camp and we finally had a decent buck come in. Cant say that about most of the guys we hunt with. Weve been watching 10-15 deer a day and have seen nothing over 2.5 years old until today.

She made it happen. Deer fell in its tracks then 5 mins later stood up and walked off. I told her to hit him again as i couldnt tell where she hit him. She hit him again and he went 25 yards. First shot clipped the lungs and was certainly lethal. She beat herself up a little bit because he walked off, but i kept telling her over and over she did good.

Couldnt be more proud of how dedicated she has been last year and this year.

Good looking buck. More than big enough for most hunters first buck. Looks like decent mass for its size. Yall should both be proud and happy. Now what about the boy, has she topped him on size?

Yep, she sure did.

Have to give him credit though. He has passed on a 10 and an 11 the last few years that were bigger, but we could only put them at 4.5. We opted to take management type 8s each year for our trophy instead and he wasnt the least bit upset. He was stoked for his sister, and also excited she got one this year so it will be his turn for our trophy next year.

He shot one two years ago that had to have been from same.genetics as this one. We shot thinking it was a cull 7 but it had a G3 that was broken off at the base. It had almost the exact same curved G2 as this deer. Only difference between racks is this one was wider and maybe slightly longer tine length.
