Currently chasing a once in a lifetime deer. I've been dropping corn, not using feeders. Big boy hits the corn at night (some daylight pics) when the hogs are not there for 2 or 3 days. But I've got so many pigs they seem to have pushed him off, and eat all the corn no matter how much I drop.

Will building a feed pen in November around a corn pile he's already use to hitting throw him off? Anyone else in Grayson/Collin use this method of dumping corn inside a hog panel pen?

I’m in a similar situation at a place in Denton county. This deer will only eat at hand corned locations randomly but the pigs find it after a few days and once they do they will bed down right near the area and push all the deer out. I’m thinking I’m going to dump a few sacks of fortified cottonseed out and see if the pigs will leave it alone and it keeps him interested long enough for him to slip up in the next week or so.

Why can't you use a varmint proof feeder inside of the pen? A feeder with the plates. If it's private land and once in a lifetime deer, this is what I would do.

So ... while rifles aren't legal for deer in Grayson, you may be able to use them on the hogs to thin the herd / scare them off, or at least push them nocturnal. This looks like a great opportunity for a suppressed AR pistol. If you don't want to lug around a rifle with your bow, consider using a Contender or similar.

Of course, if you can't discharge a firearm in the area, you're stuck with trying to thin them with your bow.
