I’ve become a huge fan of Forge In Fire. On season 7 episode 29 a young 19 year old Caleb Ledford stood head and shoulders above his competition. His Damascus work was the best I’d seen from anyone on all the shows. He took second in the finals as his handle cracked on the sword he turned in but it was was unreal. http://ledfordworks.com/

When the movie Last of Dogman came out, I loved Tom Berringers characters knife. I began a search but could never find anyone who forged one like the one in the movie.

I reached out to Caleb last May and sent him pics of the knife I wanted him to forge. Can you make this per the movie, but do it in Damascus. I decided I wanted a full length version and one a tad smaller. We agreed on a price and said he was a few months out. A few weeks later Caleb let me know he found the original specs for movie knife.

40 days in the hospital and rehab with Covid and I had totally forgotten I even ordered them. Even watching the show I didn't remember ordering them. Just all the great drugs they had given me. He contacted me while I was in the hospital and said they were done. It took me a bit but I finally remembered. I paid for them and ask him to hold them until I got out. He shipped them on Tuesday before I got out of the hospital and they were waiting for me when I got home. I have to say I am totally blown away by them. He did an incredible job. I'm really not sure which one I like the best. I made some changes from the knife in the movie. I went with 100 plus layer Damascus for each knife and left the top portion of the blade just hammer forged and not ground. That's why you see a difference in the Damascus. The young man builds a heck of a knife!

The larger knife will never see the field but I'll use the smaller one as soon as I'm well enough to hunt!

Distance is not an issue, but the wind can make it interesting!

I love the show too. I remember this episode; Wills complemented him saying he has a great career ahead of him. Those knives are incredible. Please resist the urge to bash them on an antler!

Edited to add: Glad you are getting over the covid. Continue the healing.
