I've had mine for a few months. The feeder mechanism has been flawless despite the motor being disconnected, falling, and rolled around twice. The motor mechanism "latches" onto the bottome of the can and has plastic connections to the base. Mine never did seem to seat correctly. Either the cows or the coins have disconnected it twice in a row now. This time I used a glue gun and screws to physically connect the motor to the can. Another beef I have with the feeder is the handle flexes when the feeder is full or even just hanging, so you cant get the lid on or off as it is being pinched by the handle.
