First up, the MF 9 with mulie forks my brother-in-law passed (regrettably) got shot on a neighboring ranch Sunday evening. They’re good friends of ours and there are no hard feelings, but there is always a little sting when one gets away. We tried and he evaded. I had trail cam pics of him Sunday morning and evening as late as 5:05pm at the stand we chose not to hunt (of course), but he must have hauled butt across the fence and found a bullet right at dark Sunday evening. First photo is the one my BIL took a few weeks ago, followed by Sunday’s trail cam pics, and finally the classic buck on the tailgate pic. I know what he scored if you want to weigh in with a guess.

We did manage to catch up to a nice slick 10 we were after. I had a couple October trail cam pics of him and my BIL saw him on the hoof while hunting the mulie forks buck. I got some great video and pics of him Sunday morning, but let him walk. He’s a nice deer for sure, but we’re having a great horn year for our place and I wasn’t ready to end my season. Age and score opinions welcome.

But the weekend wasn’t completely unsuccessful, as my son continued to help us with our hog problems.

164 on the MF 9 and depending on the mass I think the 10 may push 160

First of all, ive said it before but that first buck is a real beaut. That picture is awesome. Before I guessed him much lower than others. Then the pic in the truck he looks smaller and I think maybe Im right. Then I completely rethink him and I get 170, so maybe Im clueless. The 10 I did pretty quick but I got 161. Great place you got.

Its all a matter of perspective right? if you figure the top buck with a width of 17" you get a low score, but if you rethink and go bigger then everything scales up and he scores bigger. Personally I think he is around 17" wide, and scores around 144-146". but I could be way off.

Bottom buck isn't super wide either, but both are pretty. Short brows hurt the score, but not too bad. I am getting a tad under 150" on him.

Must have some Giants to pass on th MF buck. I dream of landing on a property that produces that kind of deer.

Personally, I think your BIL is off his marbles to pass that deer OR yall have some absolute giants on the property. No idea on score but good lord what a gorgeous buck.

The evening he saw that deer he had his wife and 3 young kids at the ranch and we had big dinner/football watching plans. The fact that he came in on his first hunt and parked over the corn for an hour also gave him some confidence that it would be easy to go back and kill him. He hunted that deer fairly hard afterwards with every intent of killing him, but just never got another chance. I get it and might have done the same. The deer wound up scoring just 1.5 inches under his all time best deer, which was the last whitetail trophy he killed way back in in 2006. He doesn't pull the trigger much, you could say.

Buy yeah, he should have shot!!! roflmao

Never pass on a good and legal buck that you feel with the least amount of confidence your neighbors will do the same.

The MF 9 scored 161.5, which is about where we had him with a chance of being a little bigger. The spread was 19 and the kickers added up to almost 12 inches.
