The wife and I avoid toll roads like the plague. Not like the fake media virus but like a real plague smile

Anyway going to the Austin airport where they are still having construction it may be possible to avoid them but the signs are wrong and we ended up on one.

What can they do if you refuse to pay? We've been through this once before a long time ago.. But I think my wife ended up paying. I'd rather tell them to pound sand since the signs are flat wrong. I sure as hell don't plan on driving down there again to video or anything to prove my case. My wife saw the signs also, twice. The first time we were both 90%+ sure The second time we were screaming LOL But since we were far more worried about not wrecking and dying driving through that clusterF#&^.. we didn't think about videoing it.

If the answer it just throw it away...Why would anyone ever pay a toll fee?

I find the Toll Roads in my area they keep the streets and overpasses spotless. If there is a chance of ice they will put a truck with sand on each bridge. If you break down you can call them they will assist you, change a tire, give you gas.

I have also noticed where they put Toll road it has all kinds of business flourishing where the new roads are built.

Plus most Toll Roads have high speed limits to keep traffic moving. I live at the end of the North Dallas Tollway

Yes. You can call them and explain. Which I did. They very sweet lady was very understanding. Now this occurred after I had already talked to numerous recordings, and several live persons. However, she did waive the fees. I was very grateful.

I spent oh, probably three hours over about two days, but I showed them!!! I did not have to pay the 3.75. LOL

Trust me, pay the toll. The hades you are about to enter to be right is not worth the time.

We were in a similar situation up in the metro mess a few years ago and I think it cost $3.64. Just pay it and move on with life. You don’t want any kind of administrative penalties or fines or anything like that attached to your name or at least I didn’t.

I'll be willing to wager the signs are not wrong.

How much?

For enough I'll make the drive and video it.

Keep in mind it's ALL new construction that changes every time I make the drive. It's insane. My brother goes far more often and warns me how bad it is and I never believe him....until I go!

We always pay close attention to the "Last free exit" signs and toll signs so we don't get on them. With any luck that small piece of toll was not activated yet (cameras off) and I just never get the toll bill.

This is my plan. I might cave and just pay it but I'm pretty stubborn. I freaking hate toll roads. I hate scams. I've driven that road since I was 7 years old back eons ago smile They destroy the road our taxes paid for to force you onto the new toll road. F that BS.. How about let me pay less in taxes and then toll charge me?

Also if everyone takes this mindset they won't stop..ever! Tolls will get worse and worse. Signage will get worse. Toll fees will rise until people don't pay etc.

But this wasn't supposed to be a toll road rant thread...

So what can they do if I don't pay? I tried reading that first link. I get they'll add fines but how would they enforce them? Who enforces them? Are all tolls the same as far as deals with Cities and State or do they each have their own rules/agreements?

If I 100% ignore toll charges what happens eventually besides phone calls and letters? Same question if you get a toll out of State, can the other State do anything to collect besides threaten to send to a collection agency?

I have seen little boys fight grown men before. Doesn't even sound good from the start. Just where do you think this will get you? Anything positive? At all?

This is half accurate. The other half is that they will fine you up to $250 for each toll if I have heard it and read it correctly. So not only can you not register your car/truck until you pay the toll, but you've got to pay the fine before you get a sticker too

Did you also fight the airport for the price of parking?

People can choose where to park. Apples to oranges.

So do you hand over your lunch money any time someone bigger than you asks for it? I mean why fight them, right?

I guess everyone has finally given up to "the man" and will just pay whatever they're told now. No wonder they were able to get away with all that BS with this fake pandemic. Everyone just rolls over these days. I figured on a hunting forum maybe people had some fight left in them.

Maybe instead of bashing me, try to answer the question?

If I chose to use the toll I'd pay it no problem.

I didn’t take a mindset. I took an action after researching the options if I refused to pay and some of those options were not something I wanted attached to my name. I simply opted to pay the measly amount. I completely understand and I don’t like all this toll stuff and excess taxation in our great state either.

I got suckered on to the tollway in dfw from 635, had a dam dual axle trailer on back too, paid it and marked it up to a learning experience.

not worth my time to argue about 7.50

I see your point but consider what your time is worth vs. fighting the machine. jmo

some of y'all need to go ride in a semi and pay some cash tolls out east, a bridge of about 1/2 mile can cost an 18 wheeler 35.00 to cross.

my suggestion, pay it, don't go that way again.

The fines increase exponentially- like the virus. That 5$ will turn into 100$ pretty quick. You drove on the road, unintentional or not. You used it. Pay up and move on.
They can and will block you from renewing your tags.
Fly next time if you hate toll roads that bad.

Usually by the time I receive the bill for the first time the first fine is already applied.
