This little bear has been showing up at one of my feeders since November 15. I actually have video of him climbing through the hog panel to get in the feed pen. Is there any way to post a video from an IPhone? https://youtu.be/qbwPMoekqTk

I believe you're supposed to report sightings to TPWD.

I already don’t like it since he’s spending a lot of time at my feeders.

There were bears between Sheffield and Dryden 30 years ago. Goat ranchers I know told their wetbacks to shoot them on sight. No need for new predators.

Some day you’ll wish you didn’t have bears ^ ^ ^ this ^ ^ ^ When they start tearing up cabins/ RVs/ vehicles because of food odors, they won't be so welcome. Corn /protein feeders getting emptied and trashed worse than the worst coon attack. Imagine a 100-200-300 pound coon and what it could do to an expensive feeder or game camera Plenty of online videos showing cute lil black bears opening vehicle doors and trashing the interior to the point of having to be totaled out.

I understand your point completely and would have preferred they never showed up. I’m afraid I will have to quit feeding deer to get rid of them. One member had three on game camera at once. Fortunately they are far enough from camp for now but I am concerned about them tearing stuff up there also. This is really a “no win” situation unless they can be relocated.

I hunt in SW Arkansas and have the same ASF feeder. I’ve had bears all around it and on it without damage. They are hell on a tripod feeder and curious about cameras. Like the previous post, just a 200# coon. I’d call TPW and see what relief they can offer. Good luck to you.

Put up a hot wire around the top of the pen........it won't be long before he has to climb over.......you can get a self contained solar unit that mounts on top of a T post......We use them to keep the cattle out of our alfalfa pens for the mule deer......

It is good to see more and more of them being reported but they can be a royal pain in the azz. My buddy had a big boar up on his lease just outside of Leakey for a couple years and it absolutely trashed MANY feeders. Several years prior to that a big one was sighted crossing IH35 between dilley and Cotulla and it was later seen down closer towards Catarina a few weeks later.
I think I'd need a new pair of underwear if I were to walk up on one going to my stand in the dark. lmao
High fence, low fence, no fence, it really doesn't matter as long as you're hunting!

A ranch owner I know had set up several feeders on his ranch by Sanderson. This was about 6 years ago. Anyway, he was feeding corn out of his feeders right before the season started and started finding his feeders damaged. Game cam confirmed bears. The bears were getting into the feeders and eating all the corn. The owner worked on one of his feeders to see if he could make it bear proof. He checked the feeder out and found a bear had tried to get into it but was unable to do so so his work paid off. What was so funny was the bear took a huge dump right below the feeder before he left.

Yup, they can sure tear up some stuff. Buddy of mine had one trap itself in a box blind and go absolutely nuts trying to get out. Tore that blind to shreds. Someone had left a box of snack cakes in the blind, and the bear climbed an adjacent tree and tore a corner off the roof to gain access.

Interesting thread. I never really thought about it but I guess it makes sense. I just always wanted to be able to see them. I can remember hunting S Texas 40 years ago and thinking what a treat hogs were and wishing there were more of them where I hunted....now, I don't even sweat it if the damn things run off after I shoot I just want them gone.

One and Done feeders are bear proof but if you don’t leave something for the bear, he will leave something for you.

I didn't realize until this point that they are listed as protected throughout the entire state. That seems silly for some areas
