The one we have with armor in the doors are absolute trash. Not enough power, suspension, and horrible for any Code 3 driving and you better be right with your maker if you get into a car chase.

I've often wondered why you hold back. Why don't you ever tell us how you really feel?

Quail hunting is like walking into, and out of a beautiful painting all day long. Gene Hill

Hmmm, the question to be asked of the experienced LEOs on the forum is what car or SUV is the best, or was the all time best for law enforcement and Code 3 pursuit. I’d like to know. Back at Pendleton, at the dawn of time, we had Jeeps. That was not best for much of anything but pursuit in the mud. Of course they may have had other vehicles, but that was so long ago I just don’t remember.

Why would I sugar coat anything or blow smoke up somebody’s [censored] when being honest works?

Crown Vic with the V8. Bench seat or large bucket seats, good power, handled great. Although the 2018 Charger I drive is every bit as quick and agile as the Vic. I’ve driven a Crown Vic, Caprice, Impalas, Tahoe, Intrepid, and Charger. Hands down the 2 best are the Crown Vic and Charger

Back in 1996 I had the ultimate police interceptor. A Caprice with the LT-1 Corvette engine and a 50 gallon reserve tank in the trunk. It would top out at 147 with the AC on and 151 on a cool night with the AC off. Looking back, I'm surprised I didn't get killed doing the stupid stuff I did in that car.

I remember back when Dad had the Plymouth Fury with the hemi. The DPS ruled the road then.

Most of the guys I know are saying pursuits are becoming a thing of the past. Too much liability. Unless you see a bank robbery in progress or a murder. Speeding, traffic violations, motorcycles—forget it. Drones will soon replace all pursuits. Also cameras on every corner. So, comfort is the name of the game.

My 2018 V6 Charger did 142 mph going to an assist officer with shots fired. Very few words will make the hair on my back stand up like “we are pinned down taking fire, get us help”

Geeez, I’m back to thinking that the slow one with armor is looking better about now.
