What are some of the sounds you hear while sitting in your deer stand?
I have not sat in the deer stand for a morning hunt in several years until last Saturday and never really thought about how quiet it is before the sun comes up.
Deer going through the fence
Teal landing on a stock tank
Owls talking to each other as the sun comes up.
A bird landing in the trees next to the stand
Cows mooing
Occasional truck going down the Farm to Market road.
Chair creaking as you try to get comfortable.
Of course the feeder going off and that kind of ends if for me. After that it seem like all sounds don't really matter and it is all visual.

A few of the more distinct sounds...
18-wheeler tires hitting the rumble strips on the edges of a distant highway.
Bass feeding at the edges of a stock tank that's just a few yards away.
Rustling leaves and pine needles are the wind blows through them.
Crows that appear to be communicating with one another
An occasional shot in the distance.
Some kid or young adult who apparently likes running the roads on an ATV rather than sitting on a deer stand.

Heard a sound I've never heard before 50years ago bow hunting in Llano. Was a rattlesnake crawling through the leaves.

Here the past couple of days it's been really enjoyable until some idiot on the next ranch over starts dumping 30 round magazines out of his AR...
Fast as a person can pull the trigger, and reload a fresh magazine. Usually dumps a minimum of 12-15 magazines.
Last night it happened about an hour after dark.
With ammo prices and availability, you'd think he'd moderate himself... Nope. Been going on a couple years.

At first light, most of the birds will sing for awhile, which is known as the "dawn chorus."
It's one of my favorite times to just and enjoy a cup of coffee while the birds are singing.

I’m happiest when I can’t hear any road noise. I like hearing the wind and birds

I love to hear the quail or a couple of bucks fighting. Although I hate coyotes, I love to hear them sing after the sun has cleared the horizon.

Fast as a person can pull the trigger. . . . I've had a similar experience I named " The opening morning 10 AM newly purchased Glock field test " If they'd just sit still and quiet and watch, and not diddle with their blankety blanking cell phone, they'd more than likely get a deer

The distant rumblings slowly approaching, getting louder and louder. In the dark these become so frightening that I finally leap from my chair, kick open the door of the stand and dive out into the darkness holding my roll of toilet paper while launching myself towards the nearest bush.

Sitting in the stand in the dark the other day I heard a freight train horn way off in the distance. Reminded of when I was a kid on the farm laying in bed at night with the windows open. Don't know why but to me it's a lonesome sound

I’m shocked it hasn’t been said but we hear pigs fighting just about every sit, pigs squealing and squirrels raising heck from the hawks dive bombing them pretty much non stop. That makes up most of our sounds and the usual birds and owls every day.

Seem to hear the last of owl talk at daylight then the red birds wake up early and have already heard wings of the ducks and the wood ducks flying on the river. Probably should be watching for deer but pick up the binoculars and watch them. All while having a cup of black water we as outdoorsman know a lil secret that most folk don't even have a clue about.

Sasquatch howl, and tree knocks!
Thursday at 12:45 PM #33 Once i learned that i didn't "NEED" to kill something, and that if i did kill something all the fun stopped and work began, i was a much better hunter.

The neighbor's donkey, Willie, braying every morning like a rooster.
Just to make sure that it is done thoroughly, I go both ways.

From my favorite stand it’s road noise. I get that too, at one ranch. And beside the highway is a railroad. Gets really loud when the wind is from the direction of the highway/railroad. Animals don't pay any of that noise even the least bit of attention.
