Quail camp -- 10 hunters,,, 1 bathroom. Bathroom is occupied ,,, hunter HAS to go #2, right now,,, he cant' wait. -- So he goes outside and does it in the yard. Hunters let their dogs out of the kennels in the am to go to the bathroom, before loading them into trailers to go hunt. The Brittany finds the hunter's #2 pile and rolls in it. Brittany's owner goes outside and picks up his dog to put it in the trailer(not realizing what has happened) and gets "it" all over his shirt. Dismayed is the nicest term I can use to describe the hunter's reaction. Several of the others nearly got hysterical. Here's a pic of the dog.

LOL, that's hilarious! I am glad that I wasn't a part of that debacle. I usually carry a Luggable Loo (5-gal bucket w/toilet seat lid) while camping and hunting for this very reason, it's cheap insurance.

I promise you that we don't need a photo.

Had a close call years ago duck hunting. Just before daylight my black lab broke and was running down the levy. When I caught up with her and turned on the flashlight she was nose to nose with a huge skunk. I didn't say anything they just looked at each other then turn and walked away.
Outcome could have been a lot worse with a 2 hour ride back to the house. I didn't have a kennel in the truck and she rode in the cab with us.
That would have been a long ride home.

I've had a couple of dogs skunked over the years.

This must be a sign of how slow quail hunting is if this is a topic

Lying is lying. Don't bitch about one doing it and condone another. That's called hypocrisy.

For years I had two kennels that were in the back seat of my company car, a ford fairmont. Whatever the dogs rolled in was what you smelled. Dead animals, cow crap , skunks. Those were the great hunting days. And Lord help you if you had a black lab; they always pass gas.

Wait until you are working on your lease down South and splatter human feces all over your face and body with a weed eater. Illegals entered the cabin and [censored] in the shower floor, and then [censored] right up against the back of the house. 115 degrees after cleaning up the [censored] in the house, you just mowed around camp and are weed eating the tall weeds against the house when you hit a big ol' pile of illegal [censored] and it splatters in your face and all over you.

It'll make a man think differently about certain things......

I’ve seen that happen before with a buddies chocolate lab. He was not happy. Needless to say the offender was given a shovel and then told to wash the dog.

A few years ago coming home from a dove hunt there was a terrible smell in the truck. My Brittany had rolled in some sort of dead carcass. We nearly threw up. Had to pull over and evict the dog. He road the rest of the way home in the crate.

My old Brittany loves rolling in the nastiest stuff she can find. Well, she used to, been retired a long time now.

The worst one was very similar to your story. An old lease I was on has the "bathroom" area a couple hundred yards from camp. Basically, it was a covered cedar area and folks would just go on the ground. Never made sense to me, but I was the new guy and didn't wanna rock the boat. My brother and I were there dove hunting, he has a chocolate lab. We let them out as we got ready for the morning hunt. Got outside, no dogs. Call them up and my Britt has "it" caked up all on her neck and e-collar. My brother's dog literally had a mouth full.

There was a low bridge over a creek about a half mile down the road. Put on latex gloves and took her to the bridge. Threw her butt in 5 or 6 times to get as much off as I could, then carefully cleaned up the rest. My brother was afraid I was gonna put her down. grin

Had another time she rolled in something fish related, still not sure what. Even after cleaning it off her, a few days later it turned into a severe infection. Dang near killed her.

I can say my pudelpointer pup seems to NEVER have any interest in rolling in dead and stinky stuff.

Every bird dog I've had would roll on whatever they could find to cover their own scent.
