Love my wicked edge. I about choked when I bought it, but it has been better (by a long way) than the work sharp that gave up on me

Get yourself a Razorlite EDC and you will never have to sharpen a knife again. Just change the blade. Less than $2 per blade .

DMT diamo nd vee if you can find one. I have them all. Big John ceramic stick, Smiths, 2 - Chef Choice (good for kitchen knives), steels, Loray (like Lansky). The DMTs are the fastest and fairly easy to use especially the Vees. The Loray is good to restore a dull knife. When I was a kid growing up in Wisconsin we had a big wheel that you pedaled like a bicycle that sat I in a tub of water. The best advice I can give is don't let your blade get dull. Sharpen during use and keep it sharp.

I have the WE320. Whichever one you get, make sure you buy the low angle add-on and longer rods

Which Wicked Edge? They are pricey and have different setup's., Lansky uses the same principal as the Wicked Edge. I have used a Lansky for the last 28 or so years, and it puts a fantastic edge on my knives. I have looked at the Wicked Edge, and would love to get one, but the Lansky does so well at 10% of the cost.

You can get any sharpener to take out chips and get back on kilt. Use leather strop and oxide to roll the edge out and get it ultra sharp.
Everyone wants a cheat. Nothing beats the strop.

Strop is the last process after diamond stones. Breaks off the burr. But, with an extremely dull edge, all a strop is going to do is slightly shine up a still extremely dull edge.

I have a lot of different ones. I'm a knife/sharpening junky. If you have high carbon steel vs stainless you will cut things a lot easier. Tarnish? No big deal. Just hand wash and dry. If you do put them in a dish washer and get them rusty just use some Ospho on them.
Without a sense of urgency, nothing ever happens.

You never really break off the burr, just gets smaller, with that said 100% but you can get an edge back with a cheap wetstone, and fine tune it with a strop is my point. With some of the higher quality steels compounds now, strop is really all that’s needed for maintenance. Just saying $800 sharpener is a hell off a cheat but not needed.

Is $800 the cheapest they have now? I've got $400 in mine, but have had it 3 years. BTW, I quit at 600 grit. The micro-serrations cut better than going past 1000 grit. I used stones, then handheld diamond plates for almost 30 years. I touched up my pocket knife about every 3 days. I was good, but Wicked Edge is perfect. And it gets perfect extremely quickly. The daily carry I have in my pocket is M390 steel. It is EXTREMELY hard! Try that on a stone and go ahead and block out half your day.

What is this strop? Never heard of it. Leather. Blade is swiped backwards on it. Like you've seen the barber do to his razor in old movies. When the blade needs a bit more work, you can add some grinding compound to provide a bit more grit.

Spyderco original v with triangle stones has done me right. I’m terrible at sharpening a knife with traditional methods.
