But we still had a good time and the 12 year old is getting better with the shotgun and handling dogs. We were hunting in short sleeves first thing and it was too hot to run dogs after 10. We barely managed to kill enough for a two man dinner, but blues are on the pit tonight!

Thanks, he just turned 12 last month. He’s grown so fast he’s always been uncoordinated. He’s finally getting control of his body and is handling a shotgun a lot better, this was the first year he’s really done well playing ball. You can’t even imagine the grocery bill on this kid.

Beats the snot out of staring at home.

Quail hunting is like walking into, and out of a beautiful painting all day long. Gene Hill

Lucy and Kate both did good today. Lucy runs with no collar and USUALLY just does what she’s supposed to. That girl just wants to please and had some good points in bad conditions. However, yesterday she kicked up a rabbit and didn’t listen. She got her ears pulled and the next one she looked at me and kept bird hunting. Kate was flawless this trip. Bonnie the shorthair chomped a bird and got reprimanded harshly. I was proud of all of them.

Glad to see you're getting out there.

Hopefully it'll cool down and the hunting will heat up.

Good stuff! I remember my father telling me that their grocery bill went up $300 a month when I was in high school and that was back in the late 90's. I can't even imagine what it would take to feed a house full of teenage boys these days.

Two is plenty. I can’t imagine 4. That must have been a constant war zone.
