Just wondering,
If I process my own deer, what do I do with the tag? Typically we take them to the processor and have them do whatever they do but I was looking into processing everything myself. Any idea what I am supposed to do with the tag, etc?
Thanks in advance

I chunk them. They are cut out and should be logged on your license anyway. Unless i'm taking something to the taxidermist.

Sometimes it's hard being me! But somebody has to do it.

Tag stays with the meat/carcass till it is at its final destination. Antlers need a resource document attached to them if separated or moved from the carcass.

Once the deer is at its final destination, aka your home and processed do what you want with it, it is no longer a requirement. If its a buck I leave them on the antlers so i have a decent record of when/where they come from.

However since it hasn’t been mentioned, you can’t legally process past quarters unless you have a cold storage facility at your lease/ranch. But if you’re processing at home, you no longer need the tag upon arrival.

If you quarter deer at ranch make sure you keep head. I tag ear on doe and horn on buck.
